Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main purpose of the plans and give a useful overview that the café has changed while some features remain. You also report several relevant changes, including the conversion of the serving area to hot meals, the addition of a salad bar, and the replacement of the staff dining rooms with a coffee bar and takeaway section. However, some details are unclear or inaccurate: the serving area is described as being “along road in east,” although it is beside the kitchen, and the new outdoor seating and barbecue are mentioned without clearly explaining their positions or the new southern access. Develop these comparisons more precisely and distinguish clearly between features that stayed and those that changed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate descriptions of the former and current layouts. This helps the reader follow the broad comparison. However, progression within the paragraphs is uneven, and several ideas are joined in long strings, such as the description beginning “Furthermore, the tables and chairs…” and the final account of the new outdoor facilities. Linking words such as “Furthermore,” “Moreover,” and “However” are used, but some do not clearly express the relationship between the details that follow. Group information by location or by unchanged and added features, and use shorter, clearly connected sentences with precise references.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for describing a plan, including “located,” “centre,” “transformed,” “supplanted,” and “outdoor seating.” These choices show an attempt to vary language beyond basic labels. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unclear, including “more residential one” for the redesigned café, “along road,” “facilities accumulated,” and “the bin is recycling to many bins.” Spelling and word-form errors such as “dinning,” “caffee,” and “redesigne” also reduce precision. Choose straightforward, accurate expressions such as “more modern,” “added,” and “replaced by recycling bins,” and check spelling carefully so the reader can identify each feature without guessing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including contrast with “while” and “However,” and the overall meaning is often recoverable. However, errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and punctuation frequently make the descriptions difficult to read. For example, “The two diagrams illustrates” has subject–verb disagreement, while “the tables and chairs is situated” repeats this problem. The opening overview also has inconsistent capitalisation and punctuation, and phrases such as “By cafe today” do not form a clear grammatical clause. Use complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, check singular and plural agreement, and separate the location details with full stops rather than long comma-linked sequences.
