Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the main change from staff dining rooms to takeaway food and a coffee bar, and mention several other relevant features, including the salad bar, outdoor seating and barbecue. The broad statement that the toilets and other facilities remain unchanged is also useful. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear: the serving area is described as being on the north side, although it lies along the kitchen’s southern boundary, and the bin is not behind the toilets. The overview, “some tables and chair installed,” does not clearly summarise the most significant changes, and the response omits the recycling bins and the four outdoor tables. A clearer overview and more precise descriptions of locations would make the comparison more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic chronological structure: it describes the original café first and then the redesigned one. This helps the reader follow the comparison, and phrases such as “In first map” and “In second map” signal the shift between plans. However, the opening overview is vague, and the description moves from one feature to another without consistently grouping related changes. Some links are awkward or unclear, particularly “However rest of the things are remain unchanged.” Paragraphing and punctuation are also inconsistent, with several ideas run together. Organise the response into a clear introduction and overview, followed by one paragraph on the original layout and one on the changes, using accurate linking phrases to show what was replaced, added or retained.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant plan vocabulary, including “kitchen,” “serving area,” “staff rooms,” “salad bar” and “outdoor seating,” so the reader can identify many of the features. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “some changed” and “some tables and chair installed” do not express the changes naturally, while “out space” is unclear. There are also spelling errors such as “repalced,” “berbecue” and “intrence.” Aim to use precise verbs for map changes and check spelling carefully. Vocabulary suggestions: “some changed” → “several changes”; “made” → “added”; “out space” → “outdoor area”; “constructed” → “created” or “provided.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts a few different sentence patterns, including comparisons such as “the staff rooms are replaced by take away food and coffee bar.” However, control of basic sentence grammar is inconsistent, and errors often make the descriptions harder to understand. Examples include “The toilets is located,” “the kitchen located,” and “the rest of the things are remain unchanged,” which show problems with agreement, missing verbs and verb forms. Articles and plurals are also frequently omitted or mismatched, as in “tables and chair.” Most sentences follow simple patterns, and the attempted longer sentences are not reliably controlled. Practise complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check tense, agreement, articles and plural forms when describing each feature.
