Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response recognises that the café was redesigned and mentions several genuine additions, including a salad bar, barbecue, takeaway food and hot meals. However, it only minimally reports the plans: it does not explain where these facilities are, what was removed, or what remained unchanged, such as the toilets and central seating. Comments such as “according to my taste and temprament” and “old fationed” are personal opinions rather than objective descriptions of the visual information. The overview is also vague (“There is sevreal changes”) and does not identify the main pattern of change. The response is 131 words, so it does not meet the 150-word minimum. To improve, give a clear overview and compare the main areas and their locations using factual details from both plans.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is some basic organisation: the response first refers to the former café, then describes the new one, and ends by listing changes. This gives the reader a broad before-and-after sequence. However, progression is weak because the paragraphs do not group or explain the changes systematically, and several ideas are repeated, such as “There is several changes” and “There is sevreal changes.” Connections between points are often unclear; for example, “it has diffrent areas for dinning and takway that is common chamges in to do” is difficult to follow. Use separate paragraphs for an overview and for grouped comparisons, and connect related details with clear references such as “By contrast” or “Meanwhile.”

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses some task-related vocabulary, including “salad bar,” “barbecue,” “hot meals,” “toilet” and “dinning room,” so the reader can identify several features being discussed. However, the range is limited and some wording is vague or unsuitable for an objective plan description, particularly “according to my taste and temprament” and “common chamges in to do.” Spelling errors such as “costomers,” “dynning,” “modren” and “diffrent” are noticeable and sometimes make the message harder to read. Choose precise terms for changes and locations, and check spelling carefully. For example, describe facilities as being “added,” “replaced” or “retained,” rather than relying on general phrases such as “changes have been taken.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts to combine ideas, for example in “Before it had simple structure and plans how to deal with costomers,” but sentence structures are limited and errors occur frequently. Subject–verb agreement is incorrect in “There is several changes,” while “There is several changes have been taken” combines incompatible sentence patterns. Articles and verb forms are also missing or inaccurate in phrases such as “had simple structure” and “it has diffrent areas.” Punctuation is inconsistent, with missing spaces after full stops and commas, which makes the text harder to process. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then use controlled comparisons such as “The toilets remained in the same position, while…”
