Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the overall transformation and report several key changes, including the new salad bar, outdoor seating and barbecue, and the replacement of the staff dining rooms with takeaway and coffee facilities. You also note that the toilets remain and that the bin becomes recycling bins. However, some details are imprecise: the central area still contains tables and chairs, rather than being newly modified to include them, and the former serving area is now specifically for hot meals. The overview lists changes but does not clearly summarise the main pattern of redesign. To strengthen the response, distinguish what stayed the same from what changed and describe the new southern access and outdoor tables more precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an opening, an overview, and a sequence of details, with a generally understandable movement from the north-west to the middle, west, south and east. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “Furthermore,” and “Finally” help signal progression. However, the sequence is sometimes mechanical, and the overview and detail paragraphs repeat the idea of major changes without clearly grouping the features. The sentence beginning “Moreover middle region” also makes it unclear whether tables and chairs are new or remain in place. Organise the description into clearer spatial groups—for example, northern and western changes, then the southern and eastern areas—and use references such as “this area” only when their location is unmistakable.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for describing a plan, including “modified,” “outdoor seating,” “salad bar,” and “recycling bin,” so the main changes are usually understandable. However, several choices are imprecise or unnatural for this task: “live barbecue” and “barbecue counter” do not accurately name the labelled barbecue area, while “many features” is vague. There are also spelling and word-form issues, including “dinning” and “out door,” and repeated use of “modification” and “changes” limits variety. Aim for precise map vocabulary and natural collocations, such as “redesigned,” “designated area,” and “was replaced by.” This would make the description more exact and fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mixture of simple statements and longer sentences using clauses and linking words, as in “The area which was vacant before, now it is used as outdoor seating area.” The overall meaning is generally recoverable, but some errors in agreement, articles, sentence construction and punctuation reduce accuracy. For example, “the major changes includes” should use a plural verb, and “Overall” is followed by a sentence with several missing articles. In the longer sentence about the previously vacant area, the relative clause and main clause are not joined cleanly. There are also inconsistent spaces after commas and full stops. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and article use, and build longer sentences around one clear main clause.
