Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You give a clear overview of the main changes, noting that the staff dining rooms were replaced by takeaway and coffee facilities and that outdoor seating and a barbecue were added. You also identify several features that remained or changed, including the kitchen, hot-meal counter, toilets and bins. This addresses the task and the key comparisons are generally grounded in the plans. Some details are imprecise: the staff rooms were along the north wall, not simply “in the middle,” and the salad bar was on the western wall rather than opposite the toilets. The entrance on the east side and the new southern doors are also omitted. More precise location reporting and coverage of these access changes would make the account more complete and better supported.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a recognisable four-paragraph structure: introduction, overview, description of the earlier plan and description of the current layout. The contrast between “Before redevelopment” and “At present” helps the reader follow the comparison, and the main changes are grouped sensibly. However, progression within the body paragraphs is sometimes weakened by unclear or awkward links. For example, “While toilets were in the south side and bin in the south east side” is a fragment, and the final “While at the outside” does not connect smoothly to the preceding information. Some references, such as “opposite it,” are also difficult to interpret. Use complete sentences and clearer location-based sequencing to make cohesion more controlled.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant vocabulary for describing plans, including “layout,” “redevelopment,” “retained,” “converted” and “newly added.” These choices show an attempt to vary language rather than repeat the labels throughout. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable and sometimes make the description less precise: “dinning,” “remian,” “takaway” and “arrangment” are misspelled, while “diversified incorporating” is an awkward phrase. “Constructed” is also less suitable for indoor facilities than “introduced” or “installed.” Build accuracy with common map-description collocations and check spelling carefully; this will make your vocabulary more dependable while preserving the useful range you already attempt.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including the overview contrast “Some features are … while some are …” and the comparison beginning “At present.” However, control is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to affect clarity. Examples include “the layout … and it looks at present,” where the clause structure is faulty, and “In the middle two table … are situated,” which has problems with article, number and sentence construction. Tense and agreement are also inconsistent in “the kitchen remained constand” and “table and chairs were retained.” Several sentences beginning with “While” are incomplete. Practise forming complete comparison sentences and maintaining consistent past and present tenses; accurate simple structures should come before more elaborate clauses.
