Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the broad change—modernisation—and mention the new outdoor seating and barbecue, so the response is relevant to the plans. However, it reports only a small selection of features and includes inaccurate or unsupported details: the counter was not near the entrance, and the plans do not show that more chairs were added inside or that the toilets were very small. Important changes such as the new takeaway and coffee sections, salad bar, hot-meal counter, and recycling bins are omitted. The overview is also vague, and the response is five words below the required minimum. To improve, compare the main features accurately and describe what stayed the same as well as what changed, using the plan as your evidence throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic overall shape: an opening, an overview, a paragraph about the former café, a paragraph about the current café, and a conclusion. This helps the reader recognise the intended comparison. However, progression is weakened by repeated general statements about improvement, especially “more attractive,” “very comfortable environment,” and “improve its provide better service,” rather than a clear sequence of specific changes. Some links between ideas are awkward, and the conclusion repeats the overview without adding useful information. Organise the body by location or by changes and features retained, and use clear comparisons such as “whereas” or “while” to connect the two plans. This would make the organisation more coherent and reduce repetition.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-related vocabulary, including “seating arrangements,” “facilities,” “serving area,” and “barbecue,” and “modernised” is a suitable summary term. However, the range is limited, and several spelling and word-choice errors make parts difficult to understand: “infomation,” “redesigne,” “Outdorseating,” and “costumers.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise, such as “higher school cafe,” “a simple,” and “redesigine the present maps.” Use the labels in the plans and precise change vocabulary, for example “was replaced by,” “was added,” and “remained unchanged.” Check spelling and word forms carefully, and avoid claims such as “more attractive” when a specific description of the facilities would be clearer.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

There are attempts to use longer structures, including “with several changes made to its seating arrangements and facilities” and “After the redesign,” but most sentences rely on simple patterns, and errors are frequent enough to obscure meaning. Examples include “Before renovation cafe has a simple,” “there are small seating area,” and “the cafe become more attractive,” which show problems with articles, sentence construction, agreement, and tense. The final sentence, “improve its provide better service to custumer,” is also difficult to follow because the clause structure is incomplete. Use past tense consistently for the former plan and present tense for the current one, and build complete sentences around one clear comparison at a time. Proofread for articles, plural forms, and subject–verb agreement.
