Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify some genuine changes, including the replacement of the staff dining rooms with takeaway and coffee facilities, and the addition of outdoor seating and a barbecue. However, the response is very brief and does not give a clear, accurate account of the plans as a whole; the overview also says the serving area was removed without explaining that it became a hot-meals counter. Several details are vague or inaccurate, such as saying the kitchen was improved and the recycling-bin area expanded, which the plans do not establish. The description also includes unsupported claims about serving more customers and the owner providing good facilities. The response is 32 words below the required minimum. Select the main changes and describe their locations and what remained unchanged.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a basic paragraph structure, with an opening, an overview and two short body paragraphs, and phrases such as “Overall” and “By this stage” attempt to guide the reader. However, the ideas do not progress clearly through the before-and-after plans. “The first stage” suggests a process, although the task is a comparison of two layouts, and the final paragraph combines unrelated points about the kitchen, bins and barbecue. Some references, including “this cafe” and “By this stage,” are unclear. Organise the report by comparing the main areas—for example, changes inside first, then the new outdoor area—and use clear links such as “Previously” and “In the redesigned café.”

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use a few relevant terms from the plans, including “staff dining rooms,” “take away food,” “coffee bar,” “recycle bin” and “barbecue,” so the reader can recognise some of the features being described. However, the vocabulary is basic and repetitive, and several spelling errors make the report harder to read: “proccess,” “dinig,” “coffe,” “ricycle” and “coustmer.” Some expressions are also unsuitable or imprecise for describing a floor plan, such as “climate changes,” “setting places” and “area spread in large space.” Use accurate map vocabulary and collocations, such as “was replaced by,” “was added along the western wall” and “remained in the same position,” and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts a few longer constructions, including “therefore they can serve many customer on same time,” but most sentences rely on simple patterns and several are incomplete or difficult to interpret. For example, “staff dinig rooms replace by take away food and coffe bar” lacks a correctly formed verb, while “in cafe their owner manage their coustmer” has problems with articles, agreement and sentence structure. Capitalisation after full stops is also inconsistent, as in “there are many climate changes.” These frequent errors sometimes obscure the intended meaning. Practise complete comparative sentences using past and present forms, such as “The staff dining rooms were replaced by a takeaway counter and a coffee bar,” and check verb forms, articles and punctuation.
