Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main direction of change and include several important features: the new outdoor seating and barbecue, the salad bar, the replacement of staff dining rooms, and the unchanged kitchen and toilets. The overview also recognises that the café has been substantially redesigned. However, some details are unclear or inaccurate: the staff dining rooms are replaced by takeaway food and a coffee bar, not by “taking take away food,” and the barbecue is to the south-west rather than simply “on the left side.” The comparison of the bin area being larger is not supported by the plan. To strengthen the response, describe the layout changes more precisely and cover the new southern doors and outdoor tables, while avoiding unsupported claims.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an overview followed by paragraphs describing changes and features that remain. This gives the reader a basic route through the comparison. However, progression within the paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow: “In the spare of tables and chairs” does not clearly explain how the salad bar relates to the central seating, and “Furthermore big renovation have being observe” introduces several changes without organising them. Linking phrases such as “While” and “On the other hand” are not always used to express a clear contrast. Group the changes by location or function, and use direct references such as “along the northern wall” and “in the southern area” to make the sequence easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of task-related vocabulary, including “salad bar,” “outdoor seating,” “barbecue,” and “recycling bins,” which helps identify key features. There are also attempts at more formal language, such as “significant changes” and “upgradation.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “outside dine-in area,” “complete upgradation,” and “in the spare of tables and chairs.” Spelling and word-form errors such as “dinning” and “observe” also reduce precision. Choose standard map-description terms and use them consistently; for example, describe facilities as being “added,” “replaced,” or “relocated,” rather than relying on unclear phrases.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You use both simple statements and some attempts at more complex structures, including “While the kitchen and toilets area remain same” and “On the other hand serving area is replace with hot meals area.” However, errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction are frequent enough to make several sentences difficult to read. Examples include “The given diagram illustrate,” “their are many significant changes,” and “big renovation have being observe.” The final sentence also has a faulty comparison structure: “larger then then previous one.” Practise forming accurate present-simple descriptions and passive constructions, such as “The serving area has been replaced by a hot-meals counter,” and check subject–verb agreement and articles in each sentence.
