Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify several relevant features, including the kitchen, seating, salad bar, recycling bins, toilets and outdoor seating, so the response is recognisably about the café plans. However, it mainly lists facilities rather than summarising the key changes between the two layouts. Important details are missing, such as the former staff dining rooms becoming takeaway and coffee-bar areas, the new southern doors, and the barbecue’s position. Some descriptions are inaccurate or too general: the original serving area is not clearly compared with the hot-meals counter, and “hot and fresh meals” adds a quality not shown in the plans. Include a concise overview of the main redesign and compare the old and new arrangements directly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The response moves from the former café to the present one, which gives it a basic chronological order, and several facilities are grouped together. However, the ideas are presented as a sequence of short, loosely connected statements, with no clear paragraph structure or overview to guide the reader. Repeated phrases such as “There is also” and “There are some” make the progression mechanical, while the final comments about customers using the facilities repeat earlier points rather than adding a comparison. Organise the report into an introduction, an overview, and paragraphs comparing the interior changes and new outdoor area. Use linking expressions to show contrast and change, such as “whereas” and “in addition.”

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use basic vocabulary relevant to the plan, including “kitchen,” “tables and chairs,” “salad bar,” and “recycling bins,” and the reader can generally identify the facilities being described. However, the range is repetitive, with frequent reliance on “contains,” “there is,” and “some.” Several choices are inaccurate or unsuitable for a formal plan description: “toil” is unclear, “outdoor seatings” is not the natural form, and “cofee” and “Peple” are misspelled. Phrases such as “fresh and hot meals” and “very comfortable place” add unsupported evaluation rather than describing the layout. Build a more precise set of verbs for describing locations and changes, and check spelling and collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

Most sentences use simple present forms, and some basic clauses communicate the facilities, for example, “There is a toilet located in a corner of it.” However, the range of sentence structures is very limited, and errors in articles, agreement, and sentence formation occur frequently. Examples include “It also have a bin,” where the verb does not agree with its subject, and “In college there is a kitchen,” which lacks a clear article and natural sentence structure. The opening fragment, “It is about college cafe,” also needs a complete, correctly formed sentence. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then combine comparisons using structures such as “The former staff rooms have been replaced by…” Pay attention to articles, punctuation, and consistent sentence boundaries.
