Student answer (Band 6.0)

Two Architectural design Plans below illustrates the cafe redesigned before and after look. Overall, it can been seen a visible changes espically in the outdoor region of cafe.

Firstly, let discuss cafe before redesign. In Plan on left top side we have a kitchen and a serving area where all food and drinks are served. On left hand there are two staff dinning rooms. Tables and chairs are placed in center of plan. While Toilets are on far right corner of plan. Bin is placed nearby on facing door of toilets.

However, If we see today present plan Kitchen and Hot meals placed same with a new addition of salad bar just on the front side of door . Two staff dinning rooms are replaced by Takeway food room and a coffee bar . Toilets are same while there is a addition of more bins but position is same. On bottom of map new area named a barbecue is opened with outdoor seating are customers, With two doors on left corner and other is on right side just close to toilets.

In conclusion, today cafe plan is more covenient for customers with more facilites and espically outdoor seating which attracts more customers.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You cover the main before-and-after changes and give a clear overall impression that the redesign adds customer facilities, especially outdoors. Relevant details include the kitchen remaining in place, the staff dining rooms becoming takeaway and coffee areas, and the toilets staying in the same corner. This is a solid account of the plans, but some details are inaccurate or unclear: the staff dining rooms were along the top wall, not on the left, and the new outdoor seating and barbecue are outside the southern side. The description of the new doors is also imprecise. Your evaluative claim that the redesign will attract more customers is not shown by the plans; focus instead on observable changes. More precise coverage of the layout would strengthen the response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction and overview, a paragraph about the former café, a paragraph about the current layout, and a concluding comment. The sequence from the old plan to the new one helps the reader follow the comparison, and transitions such as “Firstly” and “However” signal the shift. However, some linking is mechanical, and the conclusion repeats the overview rather than adding useful comparison. Within sentences, relationships are occasionally unclear, as in “With two doors on left corner and other is on right side,” which makes the entrance arrangement difficult to follow. Grouping changes by location—north wall, western wall, and southern exterior—would create a clearer progression and make the comparisons easier to track.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of plan-related vocabulary, including “serving area,” “staff dining rooms,” “salad bar,” and “outdoor seating,” so the main features are generally identifiable. There are also attempts at more descriptive language, such as “visible changes” and “convenient for customers.” However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, including “espically,” “dinning,” “Takeway,” “covenient,” and “facilites.” Some phrases are awkward or imprecise, such as “on the front side of door” and “outdoor seating are customers.” Use the exact labels from the plan where possible and choose natural collocations for describing location and change. This would make the vocabulary more precise and reduce effort for the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some longer structures and comparisons, for example, “Two staff dinning rooms are replaced by Takeway food room and a coffee bar,” and you use present and past descriptions to distinguish the plans. However, grammatical control is uneven, and errors occur in both simple and more complex sentences. Examples include “Plans below illustrates,” where the subject and verb do not agree, “it can been seen,” and “let discuss,” which needs a subject and a different verb form. Articles and sentence construction are also problematic in phrases such as “a addition” and “With two doors on left corner.” Aim first for accurate basic clauses, then connect them with controlled comparison structures. Careful checking of agreement, articles, and complete sentences would improve clarity.
