Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify several important changes, including the replacement of the old bin with recycling bins, the unchanged kitchen and toilets, and the addition of a salad bar and outdoor facilities. However, the response is brief and covers the plans only partially; the length requirement is not met, as it contains 120 words rather than at least 150. Some details are inaccurate: the outdoor area has four tables, not five, and the plan does not specify seating for 26 people. The claim that the barbecue was placed outside because of smoke is also unsupported. To improve, give a clear overview of the main redesign and accurately describe the new facilities and their locations, without adding explanations absent from the plans.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response groups several changes together, and the comparison between the old and new café is generally understandable. However, there is no clear paragraph structure or overview, and the information does not progress in a consistent order. For example, the text moves from the bin and unchanged features to staff rooms, then to new additions, before returning to the salad bar and barbecue. Linking is also limited, with repeated use of “after redesigned” and abrupt transitions between points. Organise the report into an introduction, an overview, and one or two paragraphs describing internal and external changes. Use clear references such as “In the former layout” and “In the redesigned café” to guide the reader.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for describing a plan, including “replaced,” “unchanged,” “newly added,” and “outdoor seating,” so the main changes can usually be understood. The range is nevertheless limited, with repeated reliance on “added” and “replaced,” and some word choices or spellings reduce precision, such as “tabels,” “Barbeecue,” and “consits.” “Among Tables and chairs section” is also an imprecise way to describe the salad bar’s position along the western wall. Build a wider set of accurate location and change expressions, such as “along the western wall,” “converted into,” and “introduced,” and check spelling carefully. This would make the description more precise and natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response communicates several comparisons through simple clauses, for example, “Location of the toilet, kitchen and Tabels and Chairs were unchanged.” However, grammatical control is inconsistent, and the sentence structures are mostly simple or fragmentary. The opening phrase “before it was redesigned and after redesigned” is incomplete, while “In serving area … are replaced by Hot meals” has an incorrect verb construction. There are also errors in articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, as in “Location of the toilet” and “Outdoor seating consits of 5 tabels with 26 peoples sitting capacity.” Practise complete comparative sentences with accurate past and present forms, for example, “The former serving area has been replaced by a hot-meal counter.”
