Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

You identify the broad idea that the café was redesigned and mention several relevant additions, including a salad bar, barbecue and outdoor seating. However, the response gives only a vague impression of change rather than summarising the plans: it does not explain that the staff dining rooms became takeaway and coffee-bar areas, that the serving counter changed to hot meals, or that the toilets and central seating remained. The claim that the café changed “completly” also overstates the extent of change. The response is substantially below the required 150 words, which leaves the main comparisons and an overview undeveloped. To improve, describe the key before-and-after changes accurately and include what stayed the same.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

There is a basic attempt to connect ideas, using phrases such as “also” and “after desinging it,” and the response stays broadly focused on the redesign. However, it is presented as one short, loosely connected paragraph, with no clear overview followed by organised details. The sequence of ideas is difficult to follow: “like babecue and salad bar in a sequencs that connect to the out door seating area” does not clearly explain how these features relate spatially. The final sentence about ordering meals is also unclear and does not connect smoothly to the plan description. Organise the response into an overview and a paragraph comparing the main internal and external changes, using clear links such as “whereas” and “in addition.”

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You attempt some task-relevant vocabulary, including “salad bar,” “out door seating area,” “customers requirments” and “comfort of eating,” so the reader can recognise the general subject. However, the range is limited and several spelling errors make the description less clear, including “structal,” “ading,” “desinging,” “babecue” and “sequencs.” Some expressions are also imprecise or unnatural: “mixture of all stuff” does not identify the café facilities, and “in a sequencs” is not a clear way to describe their locations. Use the labels from the plans—such as “takeaway food,” “coffee bar,” “hot meals” and “recycling bins”—and practise spelling them accurately. More precise location phrases would also help convey the changes.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts to combine ideas in longer sentences, for example, “there ware mixture of all stuff, even out door and in door after desinging it completly changed.” However, sentence structures are often incomplete or difficult to interpret, and there is little evidence of controlled variety. The opening, “There is a structal changes,” has a mismatch between the singular verb and plural noun; later, “In the main center for there is easy acces any meal” lacks a clear grammatical structure. Articles and prepositions are also frequently missing, as in “according to the comfort of eating.” Punctuation and sentence boundaries need attention, particularly where several ideas run together. Practise writing short, complete comparison sentences first, then combine them with accurate clauses such as “The staff rooms were replaced by…”.
