Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You identify the main transformation: the former staff dining rooms become takeaway and coffee areas, and outdoor seating with a barbecue is added. You also correctly note that the toilets and central tables and chairs remain, and that the serving counter is now for hot meals. This covers the key changes and gives a relevant overall summary. To make the account more complete and precise, include other notable features, such as the new salad bar and recycling bins, and describe the outdoor area’s position more clearly. The comments that the changes are a “good initiative” and that coffee is a popular product are personal opinions rather than information shown in the plans; replace them with factual comparisons.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from an introduction and overview to details, and signposts such as “Overall,” “Firstally” and “Secondally” help indicate sequence. However, the progression is not consistently clear: the outdoor seating and barbecue are mentioned in both the overview and the final paragraph, while the final paragraph also repeats the conversion of the staff rooms. Some links, such as “Furthermore,” connect ideas without adding a clear relationship. Group the changes by location or by what stayed and what changed, and avoid repeating the same features. More accurate, varied transitions would make the description easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant plan-related vocabulary, including “staff dining rooms,” “take away food,” “coffee bar,” “toilets” and “outdoor seating,” so the reader can generally understand the changes. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, including “redesighned,” “dinning,” “searving” and “addetion.” Phrases such as “make outside the cafe” and “one big change” are also imprecise for a formal plan description. Use accurate labels from the plans and practise collocations for describing changes and locations. Avoid adding unsupported claims such as “most selling product,” which does not describe information shown in the visual.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and linked sentences, and the main changes can usually be understood. However, errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction are frequent enough to make the writing less controlled. For example, “before redesigned the cafe has” needs a clearer time reference and verb form, while “outdoor seating and Barbecue area are make” has problems with both agreement and the passive construction. “Staff both dining romms are converts” is also difficult to parse. Build reliable sentences such as “The two staff dining rooms were replaced by a takeaway counter and a coffee bar.” Check tense consistency when comparing the former and current layouts, and use complete, correctly formed clauses.
