Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the broad change from the earlier café to the redesigned one, noting the new outdoor seating, barbecue, recycling bins and salad bar. However, the comparison is only partially developed: important changes such as the former staff dining rooms becoming takeaway and coffee-bar areas, and the serving counter becoming a hot-meals counter, are not clearly reported. Some details are inaccurate or unclear, including the claim that the “wondering area is large” and the description of a “fast food point.” The response also ends mid-sentence, so the final feature is not fully explained. It is four words below the required minimum. To improve, give a clear overview and accurately describe the main changes and features in both plans.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is an attempt to organise the response into an opening, an overview and a body paragraph, and linking expressions such as “overall,” “Following this” and “furthermore” show an effort to connect ideas. However, the progression is difficult to follow because several features are crowded into long sentences, and the comparison between the two plans is not consistently signposted. For example, the sentence beginning “Following this” moves from the kitchen to the serving area, staff dining room and seating without clear boundaries. The final sentence is incomplete, which disrupts the ending. Use separate, focused paragraphs and group details by location or by what changed and what remained the same. Choose linking words only where they express a clear relationship.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for describing a café plan, including “kitchen,” “tables and chairs,” “outdoor seating” and “salad bar.” However, the range is limited, and several word choices or spellings make the meaning unclear. “Wondering area” does not describe the central space, while “fast food point” is not an accurate label for the takeaway-food section. Phrases such as “serving good testy foods” and “sitting area for grooming of people” are also unsuitable or difficult to interpret in this context. Spelling errors, including “coffe” and “dinning,” further reduce clarity. Build a bank of precise plan vocabulary, such as “counter,” “section,” “remain” and “be converted into,” and check spelling before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts to combine ideas using clauses and connectors, but the sentence structures are often faulty, and errors can make relationships between features difficult to understand. For instance, “The provided plans illustrates” has a subject–verb agreement error, and “in todays coffe bar” lacks the possessive form and a clear sentence structure. The long sentence beginning “Following this” joins several ideas with commas and does not maintain a clear grammatical pattern. There is also inconsistent punctuation and capitalisation, and the final phrase, “so its looks g,” is incomplete. Practise writing shorter, complete comparison sentences first, checking subject–verb agreement, articles and possessives, then combine ideas with accurate clauses and punctuation.
