Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify several important changes, including the new salad bar, the replacement of the staff dining rooms with takeaway and coffee areas, recycling bins, hot meals, and outdoor seating with a barbecue. You also note that the kitchen, toilets, and central tables and chairs remain. These details show a relevant understanding of both plans. However, the overview is unclear and repeats general claims about development rather than summarising the main pattern of change. Some descriptions are also imprecise: the plans show the former serving counter becoming a hot-meals counter, while the new outdoor seating is outside along the southern wall. A clearer overview and more precise descriptions of where features are located would make the summary more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has separate paragraphs and attempts to group changes, first discussing new facilities and then features that remain or have changed. This gives it some basic organisation. However, the progression is difficult to follow because ideas are repeated and connections between them are often unclear. For example, the overview repeats that areas changed and shops and bins were added, before these points are described again in the body. Linking phrases such as “On the other hand” do not clearly express the relationship between the information that follows. Organise the report into a concise overview and paragraphs that compare related areas, using clear references such as “In the northern section” and “Meanwhile, the central seating area remained unchanged.”

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for describing a plan, including “recycling bins,” “staff dining rooms,” “salad bar,” and “outdoor seating.” These terms help identify the main facilities. However, the range is limited, and several word choices or spellings make the meaning less clear, such as “residental and commercial facilities,” “new shops,” and “makes the new shops.” The repeated use of “changed,” “new,” and “development” also makes the description imprecise. Use more specific map vocabulary and accurate collocations, for example, say that facilities were “added,” “replaced,” or “retained,” and describe their positions with terms such as “along the western wall” or “in the south-west corner.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, and the reader can generally identify the features you are comparing. However, sentence structures are often incomplete or inaccurately formed, which sometimes makes relationships between ideas hard to understand. For example, “after development makes the new shops bins” lacks a clear subject and verb structure, while “the tables chairs and toilets is also same” has problems with agreement and sentence construction. Articles, plurals, and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in “a cafe” and “the new 2 shops.” Focus first on producing complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, then check agreement and articles. A reliable pattern is: “The staff dining rooms were replaced by a takeaway area and a coffee bar.”
