Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You identify the main overall change: the café has expanded to include outdoor seating and a barbecue, while the kitchen and toilets remain in their original locations. You also report several important internal changes, including the salad bar, the replacement of the staff rooms, and recycling bins. This gives the response a clear overview and covers the main before-and-after comparison. Some details are less fully reported, however: the new hot-meals counter is mentioned, but the take-away and coffee-bar sections are not clearly distinguished as two adjoining areas, and the new southern doors are omitted. The claim that the café area becomes larger is understandable from the added outdoor space, but could be made more precise by distinguishing the building from its outdoor seating area.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and paragraphs describing the new layout and features that remain unchanged. This helps the reader follow the comparison, and linking phrases such as “Overall,” “In addition,” and “Moreover” signal relationships between points. However, progression within the body is sometimes uneven: the description moves from outdoor features to indoor changes and then back to unchanged locations, without a consistently clear spatial or before-and-after sequence. Some references are also unclear, particularly “where bin eas there,” which makes the location of the recycling bins harder to follow. Grouping all northern and western changes together, then describing the central, eastern and southern areas, would make the organisation more controlled.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for describing a plan, including “renovation,” “salad bar,” “recycling bins,” “barbecue,” and “original place.” These terms show an appropriate attempt to describe both facilities and location. However, spelling errors are frequent, as in “befor,” “evedint,” “earlear,” and “siting,” and several word choices or combinations are imprecise: “the area of cafe become larger” and “tables and chairs arange outsind the cafe” do not express the intended layout naturally. “Room” is also less precise than “sections” for the take-away and coffee-bar areas. Building a reliable set of accurate plan-description phrases and checking spelling would improve clarity and range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a mixture of simple statements and more complex sentences, including a contrast with “however” and a relative clause in “where barbecue is also introduced.” The main comparisons are generally understandable, but grammatical control is inconsistent. For example, “how college cafe look” lacks an appropriate verb form and article, while “the area of cafe become larger” has problems with agreement and tense. In “Two room which aloted for staff is replace,” the plural noun, verb forms and clause structure are all inaccurate. Articles and prepositions are also often missing or awkward. Practise accurate past-tense passive forms for changes, such as “was replaced by,” and check subject–verb agreement and articles in each sentence.
