Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify several relevant changes, including the replacement of the staff dining rooms with a coffee bar and takeaway area, the new salad bar, and recycling bins. However, the response only partially summarises the plans: it omits important features such as the toilets remaining in place, the new southern doors, and the four-table outdoor seating area. Some details are inaccurate or unclear: the kitchen is not divided into two portions, and the barbecue is southwest of the building, not on its northeast side. The overview is also limited, and the response is 99 words, below the required 150. Develop the main changes more fully and check each location against the plans.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is a basic attempt to organise the response, beginning with an overall statement and then describing features of the two plans. Linking expressions such as “Overall” and “Moreover” show an effort to connect ideas. However, the progression is difficult to follow because changes from the old plan and the current plan are mixed within the same sentences, as in “Cafe before rennovation, there's kitchen with serving area replaced with hot meal.” The paragraphing is also limited, and punctuation spacing makes the text harder to read. A clearer sequence—overview, then internal changes, followed by the new outdoor area—would help the reader compare the plans. Use linking words to express specific relationships, rather than relying on a few general connectors.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “recycling bins,” “salad bar,” “out door seating,” and “center,” so the reader can recognise several features. However, the range is limited and some word choices or collocations make the description unclear. “Kitchen divided into 2 portion” does not accurately describe the plan, while “barbecue cabin” and “modern kitchen” are not suitable labels for the features shown. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “rennovation,” “dinning,” and “modren.” Aim for precise plan vocabulary and consistent forms, such as “the kitchen remains,” “the staff dining rooms were replaced,” and “outdoor seating area.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts some longer sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “while” and “moreover,” but these are often incomplete or incorrectly joined. For example, “Overall, kitchen divided into 2 portion” lacks a clear subject and a correctly formed verb, and “there's kitchen with serving area replaced with hot meal” does not clearly show what changed. Subject–verb agreement and articles are also problematic in “The map illustrate” and “there's kitchen.” Punctuation is inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and sentence boundaries that do not reliably separate ideas. Use complete sentences with a clear subject and past-tense verbs for changes, such as “The serving counter was replaced by a hot-meal counter.”
