Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify several important changes, including the replacement of the staff dining rooms with takeaway and coffee areas, the addition of a salad bar and barbecue, and the new outdoor seating. You also note that the kitchen and toilets remain in place, giving the reader a useful comparison. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear: the barbecue is outside to the south-west, not “in bottom left of the cafe,” and the recycling bins are not described as larger in the plan. The overview would be stronger if it clearly summarised the main transformation—more food-service options and expanded seating—before giving specific locations. Some features, such as the unchanged central tables and chairs and the new southern doors, are also omitted.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a generally understandable order: it first lists the main changes and then mentions features that remain unchanged. This gives it an overall comparison rather than a disconnected list. However, the information is presented in one dense paragraph, and the opening sentence does not establish a clear overview. Several transitions, such as “If we can look into,” sound conversational and do not help organise a formal report. Some references are also difficult to follow, including “just opposite end of entering site” and “Other two things,” which leaves the reader to infer the locations or items. Grouping the changes into an overview, internal alterations, and unchanged features would make the progression clearer and cohesion less dependent on loosely connected sentences.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for describing a plan, including “in place of,” “located,” “section,” and “outdoor area.” These choices help communicate the broad changes, but the range and precision are limited by repeated or inaccurate expressions. For example, “development” and “section” are used broadly, while “entering the cafe” and “opposite end of entering site” are not natural ways to describe positions. There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “comparision,” “cofe,” “dinning,” “Barbeecue,” and “differnece.” These do not prevent the main message from being understood, but they reduce clarity and control. Use precise location phrases and check spelling carefully to make the description more fluent and accurate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer comparative sentences, for example, “Seating area has been increase by introducing the outdoor area while old indoor area remmain same.” This shows an effort to connect related information, but some sentence structures and verb forms are inaccurate. Examples include “Major changes occur includes,” “has been built which named as,” and “it remain on the same place.” Articles and agreement are also missing or incorrect in phrases such as “the old indoor area” and “Other two things.” These errors sometimes make the relationships between features less clear. Practise forming accurate passive constructions for changes, such as “A salad bar has been added,” and check subject–verb agreement and articles in each sentence.
