Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the main purpose of the plans and report several important changes: the kitchen remains in the same place, the serving counter becomes a hot-meals counter, the staff dining rooms are replaced by takeaway and coffee-bar areas, and outdoor seating with a barbecue is added. The toilets also remain in the bottom-right corner. This gives a relevant account of both layouts. However, some details are unclear or inaccurate: “on upward is locate out door” misplaces the outdoor seating, which is outside along the southern wall, and the salad bar’s position on the western wall is not clearly reported. Your overview mentions general changes but could more clearly summarise the contrast between the original indoor facilities and the expanded food and outdoor options.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic overall structure: an introduction and overview are followed by separate descriptions of the original café and its current layout. This helps the reader distinguish the two plans. However, progression within the paragraphs is uneven, and several details are joined into long strings with repeated “and,” especially in the final paragraph. This makes relationships between features difficult to follow. The repeated use of “before,” “today,” and “same” provides some linking, but references such as “on the front” and “upward” do not clearly identify locations. To improve, group features by area or by what changed, and use clear transitions such as “Along the north wall” and “In addition, outside the southern entrance.”

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “kitchen,” “serving area,” “tables and chairs,” “take away food,” “coffee bar,” and “outdoor seating.” These terms allow the reader to recognise several features of the plans. However, the range is limited and some wording is repeated or imprecise, such as “some changes,” “on the front,” and “make.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-form errors, including “seprate,” “sttaf,” “recyciling,” and “locate,” which reduce clarity. Aim to use more precise language for map descriptions and check spelling carefully. For example, describe facilities as being “positioned along” a wall or “replaced by” another feature rather than repeatedly saying they are “located” or “made.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt to describe locations and changes using both simple statements and longer sentences, but control of sentence structure is inconsistent. For example, “The kitchen are locate on same place” has errors in subject–verb agreement, verb form, and article use; “the front of kitchen is serving area” also needs a clearer grammatical structure. Several sentences run together without effective punctuation, particularly the final paragraph, so it is difficult to see where one idea ends and another begins. There are some understandable clauses, but a wider range of accurately controlled sentence patterns is needed. Practise forms such as “The kitchen remains in the same place” and “The staff dining rooms were replaced by a takeaway area and a coffee bar.”
