Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You identify the main transformation clearly: the former staff dining rooms become takeaway and coffee facilities, and the redesign adds outdoor seating and a barbecue. You also note the hot-meal counter, salad bar, recycling bins and the continued presence of the toilets, so the response covers the key changes and gives a relevant overview. This meets the task well, with some features described more fully than others. However, the layout details are occasionally unclear or inaccurate: the salad bar is on the western wall, not directly in front of the kitchen, and the two new doors are on the southern wall. The kitchen itself remains in place, a useful comparison to include. More precise descriptions of locations and a clearer account of what stayed unchanged would strengthen the summary.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an overview to details about the serving area, outdoor additions and replacement facilities. This gives the reader a basic sense of how the café changed. However, progression within the detail paragraph is difficult to follow because several changes are joined in one long sentence with repeated “also” and “where.” For example, the sentence about the salad bar, outdoor seating and doors combines multiple locations and changes, making the relationships less clear. The final sentence introduces recycling bins abruptly. Group the information by area—interior changes first, then the southern outdoor area—and use clearer links such as “Meanwhile” or “In addition.” This would make the organisation more logical and cohesion less repetitive.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “redesigning,” “replaced,” “facilities,” “outdoor seating” and “recycling bins.” These choices communicate the main changes, and some language is appropriately specific. However, several word choices and collocations are imprecise or informal for a plan description: “barbecue stall” and “barbecue counter” do not match the labelled barbecue area, while “a place for hot meals” is less precise than describing the counter as a hot-meal section. There are also spelling and form errors, including “coffeebar” and “takeaway” used inconsistently. Aim for consistent, accurate labels and use location vocabulary such as “along the western wall” or “in the south-west corner” to describe the plan precisely.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses linked with “which” and “where,” and the overall meaning is generally recoverable. However, errors in agreement, articles and verb forms occur across the response. For example, “The given pictures gives” should use a plural subject with “give,” and “some seating have been added” needs a singular or uncountable construction. In “two doors is been installed,” the passive form and agreement are incorrect; “two doors have been installed” is appropriate. Several long sentences also lack clear punctuation, particularly the sentence beginning “Firstly,” which strings together multiple changes. Use shorter sentences and check subject–verb agreement, articles and passive forms to improve accuracy while retaining complex structures.
