Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You identify the main contrast between the original café and its redesigned version: the kitchen and toilets remain, while the former staff rooms become food and drink facilities and new outdoor seating is added. The overview also captures the general increase in facilities. These points address the task, and most locations are reported accurately. However, some details are vague or incomplete: “at some distance” does not clearly locate the original bin, and the outdoor area is mentioned without noting its four tables or the two new doors in the south wall. The description of the original seating layout is also unclear. To strengthen the response, select the most significant changes and describe their positions more precisely, while keeping the overview focused on the key transformations.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overall summary, and separate descriptions of the café before and after the redesign. The contrastive phrases “One the one hand” and “On the other hand” help signal the two stages, and the reader can generally follow the sequence of information. However, several details are crowded into long sentences, particularly the description beginning “before the cafe desgined,” so relationships between locations become difficult to follow. Some linking is also mechanical, with repeated “there was” and “whereas.” Use shorter sentences to group features by area, and vary transitions to show whether a feature stayed, moved, or was added. This would make the progression clearer and cohesion less dependent on repeated connectors.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for describing a plan, including “replaced,” “introduced,” “seating area,” and “same place.” This gives you enough language to communicate the main changes. However, the range is limited and several choices are imprecise or unnatural, such as “new structure build,” “counters are prepared,” and “at some distance.” Spelling errors, including “desgined,” “cornner,” and “salas,” also make the writing less polished. Aim for accurate, map-specific expressions such as “was converted into,” “was added,” and “along the eastern wall.” Check spelling carefully and choose verbs that describe changes to rooms and facilities rather than using general words such as “prepared.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, using contrast clauses with “whereas” and sequencing expressions such as “In addition.” However, grammatical control is inconsistent, and errors occur in basic sentence patterns as well as longer constructions. For example, “The given map illustrate” has subject–verb disagreement, while “before cafe have very spaces” lacks a clear, correctly formed clause. In “staff dining rooms coverted into take away food and caffee bar,” the passive verb form is missing, and “Tables and chairs, toilets are at same place” has faulty sentence structure and article use. Practise accurate past-tense and passive forms for describing changes, and separate ideas into complete sentences. This will make your meaning easier to follow.
