Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the broad change from a single serving area to more varied food options, and you note that the toilets and indoor seating remain. You also mention the new outdoor seating and barbecue, which are important features. However, the comparison is only partial: the two former staff dining rooms becoming a takeaway section and coffee bar are not clearly described, and the recycling bins are incorrectly said to be in the same place as before—the plan shows a bin replaced by recycling bins. The overview is vague, and several details are grouped as “other food things” rather than reported precisely. The response is also 17 words below the required minimum. Add a clear overview and describe the main changes more specifically.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a general progression from the former layout to the current facilities, and phrases such as “before,” “now,” and “in contrast” show an attempt to compare the plans. However, the ideas are packed into one paragraph and run together, so the reader has to work to distinguish the overview from individual changes. Some links are unclear, particularly the long sentence beginning “the main feature that has been changed,” which combines dining, takeaway, outdoor seating, barbecue, and the salad bar. Use separate paragraphs for the overview and key details, then group changes by location or function. More precise linking and clearer sentence boundaries would make the comparison easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt task-related vocabulary, including “kitchen,” “serving area,” “take away,” “barbecue,” and “outdoor sitting,” so the reader can recognise several features. However, the range is limited and some expressions are inaccurate or unclear, such as “structured,” “fellow cafe,” “other food things,” and “outdoor restaurants.” Frequent spelling errors—including “comparision,” “seprate,” and “facilities”—also make the description less clear. Choose precise labels from the plans, such as “coffee bar,” “salad bar,” and “recycling bins,” and use natural collocations like “redesigned” and “outdoor seating.” This would improve accuracy without requiring unnecessarily advanced vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts to connect several ideas in longer sentences, but these structures are often faulty and make relationships difficult to understand. For example, “Formost part is kitchen before in this area serving area was” lacks a clear sentence structure, while “there is only facilities provided for dining room now its seprate place” has problems with agreement and sentence boundaries. Tense and verb forms are also inconsistent when comparing the plans, as in “before it was” and “now its looks.” Use straightforward past and present forms consistently, and separate complete clauses with full stops. A few accurate simple sentences would make the information much easier to understand.
