Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify several important changes, including the kitchen and toilets remaining, the serving area becoming a hot-meals counter, the former staff rooms becoming takeaway and coffee areas, and the bin being replaced by recycling bins. However, the summary only partially covers the plans: it omits the new salad bar’s location, the added southern doors, outdoor seating and barbecue, as well as the central seating area that remains. The overview is also unclear: “some more specific places seem to be replaced” does not clearly summarise the main transformation. Some details are inaccurate or unsupported, such as saying the salad bar is “only used for the dessert.” A clearer overview and more accurate coverage of the major additions would strengthen the response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is a basic attempt to organise the response, moving from an opening and overview to features that remain and then changes. Linking expressions such as “At first” and “then” help signal sequence. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the overview is vague and the second body section combines several changes in a long, loosely connected sentence. “Second” does not clearly connect to the preceding point, and the final sentence adds several ideas without a clear order. Use separate paragraphs for the overview and the main comparisons, and group changes by location or function. Clearer referencing would also help readers understand which areas “this place” and “it” refer to.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses some relevant task vocabulary, including “kitchen,” “toilets,” “serving area,” “take away food,” “coffee bar” and “recycling bins,” so the main subject is generally recognisable. However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or informal, as in “collage cafe,” “got redesign,” “more specific places,” and “new placement.” “Crucialy for serves” and “used for the dessert” also make the intended meaning unclear. Spelling errors such as “overal” and “crucialy” further reduce control. Aim for precise map language, for example “the café was redesigned,” “facilities were added,” and “the staff dining rooms were converted into…” Check spelling and use the labels shown in the plans.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, but control is inconsistent, and errors frequently make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. For example, “the have some more specific places seem to be replaced” has problems with subject–verb agreement and sentence structure, while “the staff dining rooms in the past this place is only for the worker” lacks a clear grammatical connection between clauses and shifts tense. Articles, plurals and verb forms are also unreliable in phrases such as “some essential thing” and “the bin now got transformed.” Use complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and keep past forms for the former plan and present forms for the current one. Shorter sentences would help you express comparisons accurately.
