Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You identify the main transformation from a serving area to a hot-meals counter and the replacement of the staff dining rooms with takeaway food and a coffee bar. You also note the new salad bar, barbecue and outdoor seating, and correctly state that the kitchen, toilets and central tables and chairs remain. This covers the key changes and gives a clear overall summary. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear: the barbecue is described as being on the same side as the salad bar, whereas it is outside to the south-west, beside the outdoor seating. The new southern doors and the four outdoor tables are also omitted. Including these specific spatial details would make the account more complete and precise.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an overview is followed by paragraphs comparing the former and current layouts, and the final sentence identifies unchanged features. This gives the reader a generally coherent route through the information. However, the progression is weakened by repeated points: the serving counter and staff rooms are mentioned in both the overview and the next paragraph, while the final paragraph is very brief. The linkers “On the on hand” and “On the other hand” are not used accurately to establish a clear contrast, and some references, such as “which is in the same side,” are difficult to follow. Grouping changes by location and using clearer comparisons would improve cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant layout vocabulary, including “serving area,” “staff dining rooms,” “recycling bins,” and “outdoor seating,” and you attempt to describe change with phrases such as “replaced with” and “changed as.” This is enough to communicate the broad comparison, but word choice and spelling errors are noticeable and sometimes make the description less precise. Examples include “Ovarall,” “infrasturcture,” “simplier,” and “splited”; “condition” and “situation of current days” are also unnatural choices for describing plans. Some collocations, such as “changed as” and “a barbecue include,” do not express the intended relationship clearly. Use accurate plan-description terms such as “layout,” “was converted into,” and “was added” to make the account more natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a mixture of simple statements and longer sentences, and the reader can usually understand the main comparisons. However, control of sentence structure and basic grammar is inconsistent. For example, “The two diagram illustrate” has a number-agreement error, while “there was several changes happened” combines an incorrect verb form with an awkward clause structure. In “As serving area reformed as hot meals,” the article and passive construction are missing or faulty, and “some parts remains unchanged” has a subject–verb agreement error. The final sentence is a fragment because it lacks a main verb. Practise forming accurate past-passive descriptions (“The serving area was replaced by…”) and checking articles, agreement and complete sentences.
