Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify several important changes, including the new take-away and coffee-bar sections, the salad bar, and outdoor seating, and you note that the kitchen and toilets remain in place. However, some key details are inaccurate: the original serving area provided all food and drink, while the current counter is for hot meals, not the reverse as stated. The recycling bins are not described as larger, and the barbecue is an area outside rather than a shop. The response also lacks a clear overview of the main transformation, such as the addition of food options and outdoor dining alongside the retention of the central seating area. More precise comparisons and a fuller account of the layout would make the summary more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response groups information into paragraphs and uses basic sequencing words such as “firstly” and “also,” so the reader can identify several changes. However, progression is not consistently clear: the second paragraph moves between unchanged features, the serving counter, and the former staff dining rooms without a clear organising principle. “Firstly” is repeated, and some links are confusing, particularly the sentence about the serving area, which reverses the change. The final paragraph repeats that the toilets remain in the same place, already mentioned earlier. Organise the report into a brief overview followed by clearly grouped changes—for example, internal changes and additions outside—and use linking phrases to show what was replaced, retained, or added.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for describing a plan, including “kitchen,” “serving area,” “take away,” “coffee bar,” and “outdoor sitting.” However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors make parts of the description difficult to interpret. For example, “constructs” does not fit the meaning of redesign, “barbecue shop” mislabels the barbecue area, and “sitting ara” is unclear. There are also repeated misspellings such as “Acoording,” “coffe,” and “exapnd.” Use accurate terms from the plan and practise spelling them; “outdoor seating area” and “recycling bins” are clearer, more appropriate descriptions.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts both simple and joined sentences, but grammatical errors are frequent and sometimes make relationships between changes unclear. For example, “the kitchen, bin, toilets table and chairs remains” has problems with punctuation and subject–verb agreement, while “the serving area was only provides” combines incompatible verb forms. Articles and sentence structure are also weak in “A salad bar has been build up at the side of the cafe.” Several sentences run together or lack clear punctuation, and tense control shifts between past and present. Aim for short, complete comparison sentences first, then add a few accurate complex forms, such as “The former staff dining rooms have been replaced by a takeaway counter and a coffee bar.”
