Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You identify several important changes accurately: the kitchen and toilets remain, the former staff dining rooms are replaced, and new salad, coffee, takeaway and outdoor facilities are introduced. You also compare the old all-purpose serving area with the new hot-meal and takeaway arrangements. This covers the main transformation and gives a clear overall impression that the café has more features. Some details are less fully reported, however: the recycling bins replace the single bin, and the new southern doors and four outdoor tables are not mentioned. The claim that the kitchen, toilets and bin are in the same position is imprecise because the bin becomes recycling bins. More precise coverage of these changes would strengthen the summary.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable sequence: it introduces the plans, describes retained and added facilities, then contrasts the serving arrangements and comments on the outdoor area. This gives the reader a basic sense of the redesign. However, most information is placed in one long paragraph, and several ideas run together, as in “Although in the new design staff dinning rooms are missing. In the old design…”. Connectors such as “Here” and “More over” are repetitive or do not clearly signal the relationship between points. Use separate paragraphs for the overview and key changes, and organise comparisons by location or function. Clearer sentence boundaries and more precise referencing would make the progression easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “kitchen,” “toilets,” “serving area,” “take away food,” and “outdoor seating,” so the main changes are generally understandable. There is also an attempt to describe the redesign with terms such as “features” and “modern.” However, spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural choices are noticeable, including “deisgn,” “postion,” “dinning,” “separed,” and “diferent zone.” Phrases such as “perfect and updated” and “unique and best” are evaluative rather than precise descriptions of a plan. Aim for accurate facility names and neutral language, for example, “the café has been modernised” or “a designated outdoor dining area has been added.” Proofreading would improve clarity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast with “Although” and a comparison using “whereas.” The main message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors and punctuation problems make the writing less controlled. For example, “we can identified” should be “we can identify,” while “they hve separed the seriving area, they served hot meals” joins clauses awkwardly and shifts tense. The sentence beginning “Although” is incomplete as written, and “by seating outside” needs a different grammatical construction, such as “by sitting outside.” Several sentences also lack spaces after full stops. Practise complete sentence structures, consistent past-tense descriptions of the plans, and careful punctuation.
