Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify several important changes, including the conversion of the serving area to hot meals, the replacement of the staff dining rooms with takeaway food and a coffee bar, and the addition of outdoor seating and a barbecue. You also note that the toilets and central tables-and-chairs area remain. However, the overview is brief and does not clearly summarise the main pattern of redesign, while some details are unclear or inaccurate: the salad bar is on the western wall, not simply “left side of the coner,” and the recycling bins replace the bin rather than being an expansion. The claim that the outdoor seating is “huge” is not supported by the plan. A clearer overview and more precise descriptions of locations would make the account more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic overall structure: an opening, a short overview, and paragraphs describing changes. This gives the reader some sense of how the café has been reorganised. However, progression within the paragraphs is uneven, and several ideas are joined mechanically or left incomplete. For example, “Moreover, serving area corvette into hot meals area. whereas…” does not form a clear sequence, and “Additional, and also have barbecue…” is difficult to connect to the preceding point. Linking words such as “moreover,” “whereas,” and “furthermore” are attempted, but are sometimes inaccurate or repetitive. Grouping unchanged features together and then describing the new facilities in a consistent order would improve the flow and make relationships between changes clearer.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “kitchen,” “tables and chairs,” “toilets,” “outdoor seating,” and “barbecue,” so the main subject is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or spellings make the description difficult to understand. “Remember same” appears to mean “remain the same,” while “corvette” and “Expend” do not convey the intended changes. Phrases such as “before few years,” “huge outdoor seating area,” and “all the things available at one point” are either imprecise or unsuitable for describing a plan. Use the labels from the diagram accurately and practise standard location and change vocabulary, such as “along the western wall” and “was replaced by.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, but the range is limited and errors are frequent enough to make some relationships unclear. Examples include “tables and chairs area remember same as its,” which has problems with verb form and sentence construction, and “staff dining rooms into take away food and coffee bar,” which lacks a complete verb structure. Articles and plurals are also inconsistent, as in “a college cafe before few years” and “there is so many facility.” Some sentence boundaries and punctuation are missing or misplaced, particularly around “whereas” and “in addition.” Build accurate simple sentences first—for example, “The staff dining rooms were replaced by a takeaway area and a coffee bar”—then add complex structures once the basic grammar is secure.
