Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You identify the main change as a major renovation and report several accurate comparisons: the staff dining rooms became takeaway and coffee areas, the serving counter now offers hot meals, the bin was replaced by recycling bins, and the toilets and central tables remained. This covers the task’s central features and supports the overview. The response also mentions the salad bar, barbecue and outdoor seating, but the outdoor area is only described generally; it would be clearer to state that it was added beyond the southern wall and is reached through new doors. Some location descriptions, such as “western area” for the hot-meal counter, are imprecise. A more complete account of the new layout and more precise comparisons would strengthen the response further.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall shape: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs describing changes. The sequence from the northern facilities to the central and southern areas gives the reader a basic route through the plan. However, connections between details are sometimes abrupt, and the final paragraph shifts from describing the layout to speculating that more customers will need seating. That explanation is not necessary for a plan summary and weakens the progression. Some linking is also mechanical, particularly the repeated use of “Also” and “But.” Grouping changes by location and using clearer contrasts—such as “while” or “whereas”—would make the comparisons flow more naturally. Ensure each paragraph develops a consistent focus rather than adding an unsupported rationale.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for describing a redesigned space, including “transformation,” “replaced,” “recycling bins,” and “outdoor seating.” These choices communicate the main changes, but the range is not always precise or natural. For example, “was constructed” is not the best fit for facilities that were added, and “which is environment” does not express the intended point clearly. “Outdoor sitting” is less suitable than the standard label “outdoor seating.” There are also spelling errors in “coffe,” “thorugh,” and “adeed,” which reduce accuracy. Aim for precise plan-description terms such as “added,” “converted into,” and “located,” and check spelling and collocations carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more developed sentences, including the overview beginning “Overall” and the contrast in “Tables and chairs hold a major space … but it didn't go through any changes.” However, grammatical control is uneven, and errors recur in agreement, articles, tense, and sentence construction. For example, “Many facilities … was constructed” needs plural agreement and a suitable verb, while “hot meals was added” also requires agreement. “Toilet section didn't change it's place” has an incorrect possessive form and an awkward grammatical pattern. Punctuation is inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and full stops. Practise accurate past-tense descriptions and subject–verb agreement, and proofread sentence boundaries and punctuation.
