Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify several important changes, including the conversion of the staff dining rooms into takeaway and coffee areas, the new salad bar, and the addition of outdoor seating. You also note that the kitchen and toilets remain, and that the former bin becomes recycling bins. These details show a relevant response to the plans. However, some information is unclear or inaccurate: the salad bar is on the western wall, not the eastern side, and the outdoor area includes a barbecue, which you do not report. The overview lists changes but does not clearly summarise the main contrast between the former indoor staff facilities and the expanded food and outdoor facilities today. Develop the overview and describe locations more precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs describing the plans. This gives the reader a basic route through the information, and phrases such as “Overall” and “At spark contrast” attempt to signal stages of the comparison. However, progression is sometimes difficult to follow because details are repeated—for example, the staff rooms becoming takeaway and coffee areas appear in both the overview and final paragraph—while the final paragraph does not clearly organise the changes by location. Several linking expressions are awkwardly placed or overused, particularly “furthermore.” Group related features together and use clearer comparisons, such as describing the northern, western, and southern changes in sequence.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “converted,” “recycle bin,” “staff dining rooms,” and “outdoor seating,” which helps communicate the main changes. There is also an attempt to vary wording with “introduced” and “located.” However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, including “illutrates,” “dinning,” “differents,” “entrence,” and “tabels.” Some phrases are imprecise or unnatural, such as “outdoor setting” for the seating area and “hall fill with tables and chairs.” These errors reduce precision, even though the general meaning is usually recoverable. Check spelling carefully and learn standard map-description collocations, especially for describing facilities, positions, and changes.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences joined with connectors, so there is some variety in sentence structure. The main ideas can generally be understood, but grammatical control is uneven. For example, “many of changes occur” has an incorrect article and verb form, while “salad bar introduce” lacks the appropriate passive construction. Tense and agreement are also inconsistent in descriptions of the former and current layouts, and punctuation is often missing or misplaced, as in the long opening overview sentence. Use the past tense for the former plan and the present tense for the current one, and practise accurate passive forms such as “was converted” and “has been added.” Break long sentences into clearer units.
