Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the broad change from a simple café layout to one with new facilities, and you mention several relevant features, including the kitchen, serving area, staff dining rooms, salad bar, barbecue and outdoor seating. However, the comparison is incomplete and some details are inaccurate or unclear. For example, the central tables and chairs are for café users, not specifically “college staff,” and the salad bar is inside along the western wall, not “under the cafe.” You also omit important changes: the former staff dining rooms become a takeaway-food section and coffee bar, the serving counter becomes a hot-meals counter, and doors lead from the café to the outdoor seating. A clearer overview and more precise coverage of these main changes would strengthen the report.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has an identifiable sequence: an introduction, an overview, a description of the original plan and a final paragraph about changes. This gives the reader some structure, and phrases such as “Overall” and “With the subsequent stages” attempt to guide the discussion. However, progression is weakened by unclear or repetitive sentences, including “Overall, The college cafe before design and hoe look is is after design,” which does not establish a clear overview. The final paragraph also jumps between features without explaining how the new layout compares with the old one. Organise the report around the original layout and then the key changes, using clear links such as “whereas,” “in addition” and “while,” and avoid repeating the same general point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “serving area,” “staff dining rooms,” “salad bar,” “barbecue” and “outdoor seating,” so the reader can recognise several features. However, the range is limited and many word choices or forms are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “some compulsory things” for facilities, “some changings,” “build new buildings” and “used for carbages.” Spelling errors such as “toiltes,” “cornern” and “aslo” also reduce clarity. Aim for precise plan-description vocabulary and accurate collocations, such as “was replaced by,” “was converted into” and “is located along the western wall.” Check spelling carefully, especially for words describing facilities and positions.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
There are attempts to describe locations and changes, but sentence structures are limited and errors occur frequently, sometimes obscuring the intended meaning. For instance, “The plans given below illustrate the design of college cafe how it was looked and after some changed looks like different” has an unclear clause structure and missing grammatical elements. In “Kitchen, Recycle bins and toilets at the same place,” the sentence lacks a verb, while “the cafe looks like before redesign is so simple because having just some sections” has faulty verb patterns. Articles, tense and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent. Practise complete sentences using past and present forms to compare the plans, for example, “The kitchen remained in the same position, while the staff dining rooms were replaced by a takeaway counter and coffee bar.”
