Student answer (Band 5.5)

Entertainment is an important part of the life. It has different types and sources like cinemas theatres and now a days mobile phones are a major source. Some people think that, in this digital era, theatres and cinemas are as much important because people can watch all the entertainment online. While, some people have opinion in the favour of the theatres and cinemas, that they are still required both economically and culturally. I think, I partially agree with this.

Firstly, we will discuss the opinion of the people who think that cinmeas are not as much important as they were. As they can watch all entertainment online on mobile phone. It is partially true, because we face alot of problems in entertaining ourselves thRough cinemas and theatres. For example, the rush we face in ticket buying and others such as going to the cinemas, including tranport and expense etc. But when we watch entertainment online, we have to face none of these things.

On the other hand, those people who think that cinemas and theatres are also important in todays world, I agree partially with that, because, they represent our culture and economy. Along with that, they bring jobs and help grow our economy. Also many things are also provided by cinemas, for example, the environment and surrounding that cannot be provided by mobile phones at home.

In my opinion, both are required in todays world, because technology along with our tradition and culture is also crucial.

In conclusion, I would say that both contains their ow importance in this world. Cinemas and theatres help with tradition and economy while, the mobile phones also provide us with many other services like connectivity with the people.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both views and give a position, concluding that both online entertainment and cinemas have a place. Relevant points include the convenience of watching at home and the cultural and economic roles of venues. However, the discussion is only partly developed: the online-view paragraph mainly lists the inconvenience of travel and ticket queues, while the cultural and economic claims are asserted rather than supported with a specific example. Your position also shifts between “partially agree” and “both are required,” so it is not fully clear which view you ultimately support. Explain the two sides more evenly and clarify your opinion from the introduction through to the conclusion; then develop each main point with a concrete example or explanation.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, your opinion, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “Firstly,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the discussion. However, progression is somewhat mechanical, and some links are unclear or repetitive. For example, “On the other hand” introduces the second view, but the paragraph then repeats that cinemas are important without clearly contrasting its reasons with the earlier points. The separate opinion paragraph also largely restates the introduction. Improve cohesion by linking each reason directly to the question and using pronouns or transitions with clear references; combine repeated points and make the relationship between your opinion and the two views more explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “digital era,” “culture,” “economy,” “transport,” and “connectivity.” However, the range is limited and several expressions are repetitive or imprecise, such as repeated use of “important,” “things,” and “provided.” Some word choices and collocations are noticeably inaccurate, including “the life,” “in the favour of,” and “both contains their ow importance.” Spelling errors such as “cinmeas,” “tranport,” and “alot” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise range for discussing convenience, cultural value, and employment, and check spelling and common word partnerships. This would make your meaning clearer and help the argument sound more natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including a reason clause in “It is partially true, because…” and a relative clause in “the environment and surrounding that cannot be provided…”. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences awkward or difficult to follow. Examples include “Some people think that, … because people can watch…” (an unclear sentence structure), “both contains” (subject–verb agreement), and “the life” (article use). Commas are also often placed where they interrupt the sentence, as in “I think, I partially agree with this.” Practise building clear complex sentences with accurate clause connections, and check agreement, articles, and punctuation when editing.
