Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some individuals belive that nowadays theatres and cinemas are way less valued than they were in the past, due to the enormous quantity of entertainment available on the internet. On the contrary, for others theatres and cinemas are still very useful for our economy and culture. I personally agree with the former statement, since today is less common going outside just to see a movie or a recital.
First of all, with internet, most of the content created by actors, both for cinemas or theatres, is now available on multiple platforms such as Youtube, Netflix, Prime video. Therefore, some people tend to stay comfortable in their own house, while choosing whatever type of entertainment they desire at that specifi moment. For example, instead of going to the cinema where usually you can not leave the room if the movie is still on, they simply choose a movie to watch at home and if they are not enjoying it, they can easily turn if off or they can chose another one.
On the other hand, some people believe cinemas and theatres are still important from an economic and a cultural point of view. For instance, the economy can be boosted through theatres through paying the actors, the whole staff, spectators are required to pay a ticket and food which is usually part of this kind of activities. Culturally, experiencing a shows in real time and not online helps with the general cultural knowledge, because online the shows can be modified in order to adapt to various group of interest, while if the recital is live, it is easier for people to get the right message.
Overall, I agree with the first statement because today cinemas and theatres are less popular due to online platforms and websites. However, I can understand why other people believe that they are still important, even though I do not agree with their view.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both views and state a consistent position: you agree that online entertainment has reduced the importance of theatres and cinemas. The first body paragraph explains the convenience of watching at home, and the example of stopping or changing a film makes this point relevant. You also identify economic and cultural benefits, including employment and the value of live performance. However, these opposing benefits are asserted more than developed: explain more clearly how venues contribute to the wider economy or why a live performance can communicate a message more effectively. Your own view could also be supported with a fuller explanation of why reduced popularity means these venues are less important, rather than simply less commonly visited. This uneven development keeps the response from fully extending its relevant ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion that restates your position. Signposting such as “First of all,” “On the other hand,” and “Overall” helps readers follow the discussion, and the examples generally appear beside the points they support. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some of the clearer progression associated with a stronger performance. To improve further, make links between claims more precise and avoid relying mainly on formulaic transitions. For example, the economic and cultural points in the third paragraph could be separated or connected with clearer explanation. The phrase “through theatres through paying” also makes the relationship between the venue and its economic effects difficult to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “enormous quantity,” “multiple platforms,” “boosted,” and “cultural point of view.” These choices allow you to discuss convenience, employment, and live performance, and occasional less common phrasing shows an effort to be specific. Some word-choice, spelling, and collocation errors remain, though the main meaning is generally clear. Examples include “belive,” “specifi,” and “turn if off,” as well as “a shows” and “group of interest.” Some expressions are also imprecise, such as “very useful for our economy and culture.” Aim for accurate topic-specific phrases and check spelling and word forms carefully; this would make your ideas sound more natural and precise.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a reason clause with “since” and a contrast structure beginning “while.” Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, and the response is not dependent on one repeated pattern. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with articles, agreement, and sentence construction. For example, “today is less common going outside” needs a clearer subject and grammatical pattern, while “experiencing a shows” has an article–noun agreement problem. In “spectators are required to pay a ticket and food,” the structure does not clearly express what spectators pay for. Review these patterns and punctuate longer sentences carefully. More consistently accurate complex sentences would strengthen control without sacrificing the range you already attempt.
