Student answer (Band 5.0)
Some people believes that theatres and cinema are not significant in the a new era because they can watch the entertainment digitally. However, some argues that theatres and cinemas are a part of our culture and economy.
It has seen that in a present time, few people do not prefer entertainment as they can watch everything on the internet, while some believes that theatres and cinemas play a crucial role in our economy and traditions. i believe that both of the statements are correct to some extent. The cinemas and theatres are a main source of earning for the producers of films and drama. These also help in making money from the tickets of the consumers. These also represent a picture of our norms and values that has a great impact on a persons perception. Additionally, most the people playing a role in theatres are poor so this is a main source of earning for them. However, the e-entertainment is convenient as most of them are free and can be easily accessed. It also saves one persons time. Moreover films or drama can be accessed anytime even if they are not new in the industry. For instance, a person can watch any movie or film anytime whenever he or she has free time. You can also skip to a part if you get bores while watching a specifc scene. But in theatres or cinemas, it is not possible as you are watching it physically and especially in theatres every person in playing a role in a real life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You discuss both perspectives and give a position, saying that “both of the statements are correct to some extent.” Relevant points include cinemas’ contribution to producers’ income and cultural values, alongside online entertainment’s convenience and flexibility. However, the discussion is only partly developed: the economic and cultural claims are asserted rather than supported with specific examples, and the point about theatre performers being poor is unclear and not explained. The online-view paragraph gives a practical example, but it focuses mainly on convenience rather than fully examining why this makes cinemas less important. To strengthen the response, explain each main reason and add a concrete example, while making your own view more precise.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable overall sequence: it introduces the two views, presents reasons for the continuing importance of venues, and then contrasts these with online advantages. Linking words such as “However,” “Additionally,” and “For instance” help signal relationships between ideas. Nevertheless, progression is limited because most points are placed in one long body paragraph, so the two sides and the writer’s opinion are not clearly separated. Some connections are also repetitive or unclear, particularly the repeated “These also” and the shift from online convenience to the claim about performers. Use separate paragraphs for each view and a conclusion, and make each paragraph develop one central point with clear references.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “crucial role,” “norms and values,” “convenient,” and “accessed,” which allows the main ideas to be understood. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations sound unnatural, such as “in the a new era,” “a main source of earning,” and “e-entertainment.” Repetition of “theatres and cinemas,” “watch,” and “source” also restricts variety. Spelling and word-form slips, including “specifc” and “bores,” further reduce accuracy. Build a more precise set of topic phrases and check collocations: for example, venues can “generate revenue,” while online platforms offer “on-demand access.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some longer sentences and use subordinate clauses, for example, “For instance, a person can watch any movie or film anytime whenever he or she has free time.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in basic sentence patterns, sometimes making the reader pause. Examples include subject–verb agreement in “Some people believes” and “some argues,” article and determiner problems in “in the a new era,” and missing apostrophes in “a persons perception” and “one persons time.” The sentence beginning “It has seen that” is also not formed correctly. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles, possessives, and sentence boundaries before adding more complex structures.
