Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both views and give a clear preference for the continuing importance of theatres and cinemas, especially in the conclusion: “we cannot forget about our culture and history.” The response also includes relevant points about convenience and cost on one side, and cultural preservation and creativity on the other. However, the discussion is only partly developed. The claim that online viewing leads governments to close cinemas is not clearly explained, and the economic and cultural benefits of venues are asserted rather than supported with specific examples. The task asks for a discussion of both positions and your opinion; make your own view explicit earlier and explain how the examples support it. The response meets the stated length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay has a recognisable structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. Transitions such as “Moreover,” “However,” and “In conclusion” help signal the direction of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and several ideas are placed together without showing their relationship. For example, the first body paragraph moves from convenience and cost to government investment and closures, while the second shifts from economic growth to cultural preservation and social-media addiction. Some linking phrases are repetitive or awkward, and “Because” begins a fragment after the paragraph break. To improve, organise each paragraph around one main claim, then explain and illustrate it before moving to the next point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “digital age,” “economic growth,” “culture and history,” and “social media addiction,” so the reader can follow the main subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices, collocations, and spelling errors make the writing less precise. Examples include “less important on theatres,” “consumar,” “reserve one nations culture,” and “remind about own root.” Repeated use of “important,” “easily,” and “crucial role” also limits variety. Aim to learn accurate phrases for this topic, such as “attend a cinema,” “preserve cultural heritage,” and “provide a shared viewing experience.” Proofreading spelling and checking whether words naturally combine will make your ideas clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a mixture of simple and more complex sentences, including a concession in “Although there are numerous advantages…” and a reason clause beginning “because.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to read. For example, “While, orther argue” has incorrect punctuation and subject–verb agreement, while “he need sufficiant time” and “the government take some plans” have verb-form errors. Articles and sentence construction also need attention: “play crucial role” is missing an article, and “Because these can help in economic growth” is an incomplete sentence in this context. Practise building complete sentences with accurate subjects, verbs, and articles, then check punctuation and agreement during revision.
