Student answer (Band 5.0)
Discuss the two different argue with two sides. Some people thinks in the digital age cinemas and theatres are no longer important. People can watch all the stuff an online. Now the other side some people said that cinemas and theatres are still important both culturally and economically. I discuss the both side and I give examples and reasons in below.
Now, some people said cinemas are not important at this time because which thing you watch and everything avalaible on online. Because these people said when you go to cinema or theatres you pay extra for which thing you eat or drink and some time people go to cinema or theatres and people see their are no avalaible seats. This moment for very sad for these peoples. Because some people arive to very far.
Moreover, the second hand the people said cinema and theatres is still important for our us. Because these people said when realese new stuff first we watch only in cinema or theatres. Cinema and theatres is more important ecnomically and culturally because cinema earns more money for their country.
I think cinema and theatres are in this time still important for us because everything we watch on online but cinema feel different and cinema give us a real feel. Some movies comes in 3d and these types of movies we watch only in cinema and theatres. We watch on online but we got not their this type of feel. The cinema gives us help for their country in economically.
In my opinion, I think no matter at this time or future cinema and theatres are still important for our us and for our country. Cinema is good thing for us.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both views and state your own opinion: online viewing is presented as convenient, while cinemas are defended for their distinctive experience and contribution to the economy. The examples about extra costs, unavailable seats, and 3D films are relevant to the topic. However, the discussion is uneven and the ideas are mostly asserted rather than explained. For instance, saying cinemas “earn more money for their country” does not show how this benefits the economy, and the cultural importance of theatres is mentioned but not developed. Your position is repeated in the final paragraphs, but could be made clearer and supported with more specific reasoning. Explain each side in greater depth and use a concrete example to show why these venues matter culturally and economically.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion expressing your opinion. Basic signposting such as “Moreover” and “In my opinion” helps readers follow the intended direction. However, progression is often repetitive: the introduction says you will discuss both sides, and the final two paragraphs repeat that cinemas remain important without adding much new reasoning. Several sentences begin with “Because,” leaving the relationship between ideas unclear, while “the second hand” does not clearly signal the opposing view. Some references, such as “these people” and “this moment,” are also vague. Organise each body paragraph around one main claim, then explain and illustrate it, using clearer links between sentences.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
Your vocabulary is basic and repetitive, with frequent reliance on “cinema and theatres,” “important,” “people,” and “stuff.” This limits precision when discussing the economic and cultural arguments. Some choices are inaccurate or awkward, including “the second hand,” “real feel,” and “cinema gives us help for their country in economically,” which make parts of the message difficult to interpret. Spelling errors such as “avalaible,” “arive,” “realese,” and “ecnomically” also weaken control. You do communicate the central ideas, including online availability and the special experience of 3D films, but need a broader range of accurate topic vocabulary. Practise collocations such as “live performance,” “box-office revenue,” and “shared viewing experience.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
Most sentences use simple patterns, and attempts to connect ideas with “because” show some effort to build longer sentences. However, control is inconsistent, and errors frequently affect clarity. Examples include “Some people thinks,” “cinemas and theatres is,” and “when realese new stuff first we watch,” where agreement or sentence structure is faulty. Articles and prepositions are also often missing or misplaced, as in “available on online” and “go to cinema.” Several clauses beginning with “Because” are fragments rather than complete sentences. Focus first on accurate subject–verb agreement, articles, and complete sentence boundaries. Then practise combining a main claim with a reason using a correctly formed subordinate clause.
