Student answer (Band 6.0)
According to some people, theaters and cinemas are unnecessary in the digital era where people can watch their desired entertainment on internet. While, others contend that theaters and cinemas are still necessary economically as well as culturally. As per my opinion, these things are important even in this electronic age and this esssay discusses both views with suitable examples and my opinion.
No doubt, we are living in the modern digital era where technology made the things so advance. People have cinema-like experience in their bedrooms. Big panels, amazing sound systems, online entertainment plaforms like netflix are the products of this digital age that provide more comfort to human's life. For example, if you have this system at home and entertainment is just a click away, what is the need to book advance tickets and wait for date and time to watch a particular movie. Online entertainment is more convenient. This is the reason why some people think that old entertainment stuff is not necessary.
On the other hand, it has significant cultural and economical role and importance. There are industries behind all of this that play role in the economic development of the country. Film makers and singers produce their entertainment content that displays on cinema screen, live theaters or concerts. It employs hundreds of people around the country and play their role in economic development in the form of employment. Moreover, cinemas and theaters are important part of the country's tradition, and culture. So, nobody can deny its importance and is still important.
In conclusion, both views have their reasons. I think cinemas are theaters are still important and playing its cultural role in the country. No matters how advance advance the digital technology is, old sources of entertainment are still important.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both views and state a clear opinion that cinemas and theatres remain important. The first body paragraph explains the convenience of home entertainment, using examples such as large screens, sound systems and Netflix; the second gives relevant economic and cultural reasons, including employment and tradition. This covers the task, but the two sides are not developed equally: the case for online entertainment is explained more concretely, while the cultural value of live venues is asserted rather than illustrated. The economic point would also be stronger with a specific example of jobs or local business activity. To develop the response further, explain why shared, live experiences cannot be fully replaced by home viewing and support that claim with a relevant example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Transitions such as “On the other hand” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the argument, and the ideas within each body paragraph generally stay on topic. However, some linking is mechanical, and the conclusion repeats the opinion without drawing together the main reasons. References such as “these things” and “old sources of entertainment” are broad, so the reader must infer exactly which venues or forms of entertainment are meant. Improve cohesion by using more precise references and by linking each example explicitly to the point it supports. A concluding sentence that synthesises the economic and cultural arguments would also create a stronger progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “digital era,” “online entertainment,” “economic development,” and “tradition.” These choices make the main ideas clear, and phrases such as “a click away” suit the discussion of convenience. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “entertainment plaforms,” “advance tickets,” “significant cultural and economical role,” and “old entertainment stuff.” There are also spelling errors such as “esssay” and “plaforms.” These do not prevent understanding, but they limit precision and naturalness. Choose more standard academic expressions, check spelling carefully, and avoid vague wording when a precise term such as “cinema and live theatre” is available.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional question (“if you have this system at home…”) and a contrast between the two views. Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “technology made the things” needs a more suitable tense and article pattern, while “It employs hundreds of people… and play their role” has a subject–verb agreement problem. The opening “While, others contend…” is an incomplete sentence, and the conclusion contains errors in “cinemas are theaters” and “No matters how advance…”. Work on complete sentence construction, agreement, articles and verb forms, then proofread punctuation. More accurate control of these patterns would make your varied structures clearer.
