Student answer (Band 6.0)

In today's age , the way people access entertainment has immensely changed. While some believe that theatres and cinemas are unecessary because of the availbilty of online platforma.Others argue that these places are important role in our society. I agree with this notion because althought digital platforms are easily accesisible yet theatres and cinemas are still important economically and culturally .

On the one hand with the advancement of technology digital media is easily accesible then before . From the comfort of home people can now watch movies, shows and live performances. They do not have to travel to buy and watch the shows .Every show is easily availabe with the payment of very low cost and provides with a huge variety of films and entertainment channels . It gives them with the facility of what they want to watch and when they want to watch .It saves both time and money, the young generation perfers online platforms because of its convinence.

On the other hand, theatres and cinemas provide amusment that digital media can not fulfill . The large screen of cinemna for movie , high audio , the feeling of audience is unmatched . Similarly the live performances of the theatre the true practice of art and drama is not seen anywhere besides that.Firstly it provides many people with chances of employment such as the directors, actors, technicion etc. Secondly it helps run other business linkes to it such as transportation, tourism, food etc. Moreover cineman and theratre preserve our culture and tradition, promotiong our local artist and performers.

In my view the digital enternmaint is convient and more diverse as many people perfer it more , while cinema and theatre are our cultural part and defines us both sources of entertainment should coexist and contribute to our society.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both sides of the discussion and make your position clear: you support the continued importance of theatres and cinemas while concluding that both forms of entertainment should coexist. The online-entertainment paragraph gives relevant reasons, including convenience, low cost, variety, and saving time. You also explain the venues’ distinctive experience and mention employment, related businesses, and cultural preservation. However, some points are asserted rather than developed. For example, the economic benefits are listed, but there is no example showing how a cinema supports local businesses or jobs. The cultural claim about preserving traditions and promoting local artists could also be explained more specifically. Developing these ideas with a concrete example would make the response more complete and persuasive.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph presenting the case for online entertainment, a paragraph supporting theatres and cinemas, and a concluding opinion. The contrast between the two views is easy to follow, and signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In my view” help guide the reader. Some connections are less smooth, however. The sentence beginning “Similarly the live performances…” is difficult to follow, and “Firstly” and “Secondly” introduce points without clearly linking them to the preceding discussion. There are also abrupt transitions between the cultural and economic arguments. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each supporting point explicitly to the paragraph’s main idea.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of vocabulary for the topic, including “digital platforms,” “live performances,” “employment,” “transportation,” and “preserve our culture.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, and some phrases show an attempt to be precise. However, spelling errors and inaccurate word forms are noticeable, as in “unecessary,” “availbilty,” “accesisible,” and “enternmaint.” There are also awkward or imprecise combinations, such as “provide amusment” and “the feeling of audience.” These do not prevent the reader from understanding the overall argument, but they reduce clarity and control. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations for describing audience experience, cultural value, and economic impact.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including contrast clauses with “While” and “because,” and the main ideas are generally understandable. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly in sentence boundaries, articles, and agreement. For example, “While some believe … Others argue …” is punctuated as a fragment followed by a separate sentence, while “theatres and cinemas are important role” lacks a grammatical construction such as “play an important role.” The final sentence also joins several ideas without clear punctuation, making the relationship between them harder to follow. Review sentence boundaries and practise building complex sentences with a clear main clause. More accurate articles and subject–verb patterns would improve control.
