Student answer (Band 5.5)

People nowadays argues that in this digital age theatres and cinema are no longer important to peoples because people are attracted towards online streaming platfroms while other belives that theatres and cinemas plays importance role in country economy and help preserve culture. I belive that online entertainment platforms are more benefical and they have overthrown the trend of cinema and theatres because online platforms provides entertainment at your need.

Many people says that in this modren age cinema and theatres are no longer important. I totally agree with this point becasue of growing trend of online streaming platfroms such as netflix and amamzon are providing entertainment at very cheap cost that is why people avoid going to cimnemas. For instance in the price of one cinema tickets these platfroms are offering monthly subscription and people can watch unlimited movies. The second reason why cinema and theatres are getting out of trend is busy lifestyle of people. Nowadays people are busy and they dont have the time to go cinema. This is why they are more intrested in online platfrom because they can wacth movies by sitting at home and they dont need to travel to cinema.

Other critics say that cinema and theatres are still important to country economy and cultural growth. Many belives that if the movies are shown at cinema they need approval from government and government will also charge tax from both cinemas and production houses which will contribute economically.Talking about the theatres people think that the theatres will be the source of cultural preservation because people can not watch movies to learn about thier culture visiting theatres will help people learn and experience thier culture.

In conclusion, In this modren time people are attracted more toward online streaming platfrom and cinema and theatre will be no longer intrend i totally agree with opinion. While, other belive that cinema and theatre will contribute economically and help preserve culture.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You present a clear opinion that online entertainment is more beneficial and has displaced cinemas and theatres, and you discuss both the online-viewing argument and the economic and cultural case for venues. The examples of subscription services and government tax provide relevant support. However, the discussion is uneven: the benefits of online viewing are explained with two reasons, while the cultural point is asserted rather than clearly demonstrated. The claim that people cannot learn about their culture through films unless they visit theatres is also unclear and needs qualification. Develop the opposing view with a specific example, then explain why your own position remains stronger. This would make the response address both sides more fully and support its ideas more convincingly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. This makes the overall line of discussion easy to follow, and phrases such as “For instance” and “The second reason” help signal examples and progression. However, the conclusion mostly repeats the introduction rather than drawing the discussion together, and the transition “While, other believe” is awkward and leaves the final contrast incomplete. Some links between ideas are mechanical, particularly repeated use of “This is why.” Use a wider range of clear transitions and ensure each paragraph develops one central point before moving to the next. More precise referencing would also help clarify what “they” and “the theatres” refer to.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “online streaming platforms,” “monthly subscription,” “government,” “tax,” and “cultural preservation,” so the main ideas can be understood. However, the range is limited and several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “plays importance role,” “at your need,” and “out of trend.” Repetition of “people,” “cinema,” and “platforms” also restricts flexibility. Spelling errors—including “platfroms,” “modren,” and “intrested”—are noticeable and sometimes slow the reader. Aim to learn accurate collocations for this topic and vary repeated nouns with suitable alternatives, while checking spelling carefully. More precise vocabulary would help distinguish economic contribution from cultural value.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including explanations with “because” and examples introduced by “For instance.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors in agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries occur frequently enough to make some passages difficult to read. For example, “People nowadays argues” and “cinema and theatres plays” have subject–verb agreement problems, while “in the price of one cinema tickets” has errors in article and plural form. The final paragraph also joins ideas with unclear punctuation and an incomplete contrast. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and verb, correct singular or plural forms, and appropriate punctuation. Shorter, accurate sentences would improve clarity while you build control of complex structures.
