Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You state a clear preference for online viewing in the introduction and conclusion, and you give relevant reasons such as saving travel time and transport costs. However, the task asks you to discuss both views, and the case for theatres and cinemas is not meaningfully explained: the paragraph beginning “Furthermore” mainly lists disadvantages of attending rather than their economic or cultural importance. The response therefore addresses the prompt only partially, and several points remain under-developed. For example, the transport example could be explained more clearly, while the opposing view could include how cinemas support jobs or provide a shared cultural experience. Develop both sides with specific, relevant support and make your position consistent throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and basic signposting such as “To begin with,” “Furthermore” and “In conclusion” helps identify the sections. However, progression between ideas is often unclear. The second body paragraph opens by saying people can watch films in cinemas, but then shifts to time and money disadvantages and phone use without explaining how these points connect. Some linking phrases are repetitive or do not express the intended relationship, and references such as “this factors” are unclear. The conclusion repeats the main preference but does not resolve the discussion of both views. Organise each paragraph around one clear claim, then explain and illustrate it before moving to the next point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “digital age,” “entertainment,” “transport” and “affordable,” so the reader can generally identify the subject and your main points. However, the range is limited and several word choices, forms and spellings are inaccurate or repetitive. Examples include “online watching,” “economical beneficial,” “loss of time” and “convienient”; these make some ideas less natural or harder to understand. “People” is also repeatedly used where more precise terms could distinguish viewers, audiences or families. Build a wider set of accurate collocations for discussing cultural and economic effects, and check spelling and word forms. For instance, use “cost-effective” rather than “economical beneficial,” and “waste time” rather than “loss of time.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple sentences and longer cause-and-effect structures, including “This is because…” and “As a result…”. However, the range is limited, and frequent errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “theaters and cinemas are become,” “online watching save time,” and “a person spend 1 hour to transport.” There are also run-on or poorly punctuated sentences, such as “This is because peoples do not travel to cinema they can save money on transport.” Practise forming complete clauses with accurate subject–verb agreement and articles, and use full stops or conjunctions to separate connected ideas. More accurate control of these basic patterns would make your argument clearer.
