Student answer (Band 5.5)
In this modern era, it is believed by some individuals that theatres and cinemas are less important because everybody can enjoy watching all these entertainment in online, while rest of the people argued that theatres and cinemas are still plays a significant role for both the economy and culture. This essay will expalin both sides and provide my opinion why I am favor of the former viewpoint because people need to upgrade them as the technology upgrading day by day and also need to decline their cost for their entertainment.
On the one hand, one of the main reason why theatres and cinemas are less important in this modern era for entertainment purpose is that people developing the way how they are entertaine themselves. This means that technology are upgrading everyday and people changing the way to entertain them. For example, they watch their favourite movie or tv show on internet. They did not need go to the theatres just to enjoy any cinemas or show. Another significant reason is that they need to reduce the cost for their entertainment purpose. This is because people have to expense more money in a theatres which he can enjoy at least cost in online.
On the other hand, although there are strong arguments to support the first viewpoint, it is often agrued that theatres and cinemas are still plays a significant role for both the economy and culture. One key reason behind this is that theatres and cinemas helps to earn more money which has a great impact on our economy. This is mainly because we can earn a lot of money if we make a great cinema. For instance, if we make a cinema with a great viewpoint which liked by all, it is possible to earn a lot of money form this. This will support us in future to strong our economy. Another noteworthy point is that cinemas will help to introduce the culture of the country in fornt of the young generation. This suggest that our younger generation can learn and know about the culture of his own motherland. If the future generation lose intrest on their culture, the culture of the country will distroy totally.
In conclusion, although theatres and cinemas are still important for the economy and culture, I believe that theatres and cinemas are less important in this modern time because people upgrading them as the technology upgrading as well as the reducing the cost for their entertainment purpose.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You discuss both views and state a position: you favour the view that online entertainment makes theatres and cinemas less important. The response also gives relevant reasons, including convenience and lower cost, and mentions cinemas’ economic and cultural contributions. However, the position is not fully clear: the introduction says you favour the “former viewpoint,” then adds that theatres “need to upgrade” and reduce costs, while the conclusion repeats this awkwardly. Several points are asserted rather than explained. For example, the economic argument focuses on a successful film earning money, without showing how theatres and cinemas contribute more broadly to the economy. Develop each side with clearer explanations and specific examples, and state your opinion consistently to address the task more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. The progression from online convenience and cost to economic and cultural value is easy to follow, and signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help guide the reader. This coherent arrangement meets the lower-band expectations, with some features of stronger organisation. However, linking is sometimes mechanical, and repeated phrases such as “significant role” and “This is because” make the development feel formulaic. Some references are also unclear, as in “This suggest” after the point about culture. Use a wider range of natural links and make each sentence’s connection to the preceding idea explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “technology,” “economy,” “culture,” and “young generation.” However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, word-form, and spelling errors are noticeable. Examples include “all these entertainment in online,” “expense more money,” “strong our economy,” and “lose intrest on their culture.” Repetition of “important,” “significant role,” and “a lot of money” also limits precision. These choices sometimes make the reader pause to interpret your meaning, even though the overall message remains understandable. Build a bank of natural topic phrases and check spelling and word forms; aim for precise expressions rather than repeating general terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “because,” “although,” and “if,” so there is some variety. However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to affect clarity. For example, “theatres and cinemas are still plays” has incorrect verb structure, while “technology are upgrading” shows subject–verb disagreement. Other examples include “people have to expense more money in a theatres” and “they did not need go,” which contain problems with articles, verb forms, and sentence patterns. Tense and agreement are also inconsistent in “people developing” and “people changing.” Practise accurate basic sentence patterns first, then extend them with subordinate clauses, checking verb forms, agreement, articles, and punctuation.
