Student answer (Band 6.0)

The imprtance of theatres and cinema has been the topic of discussion of many individuals. Many believe that they're still important economically and culturally, while others are convinced that thanks to the technology we have today they're no longer needed as people can watch all the entertainement online from a screen. I personally believe that no matter how much technology advances, cinemas and theatres will remain essential in our lives.

While it is true that the digital world has allowed us to be entertained and get access to all form of arts in the world through the comfort of our homes without having to spend too much time and money on getting tickets and spending hours of transportation, art is not something that can be simply translated through a screen you have to be there and to witness it's grateness, to feel and experience it.

Another thing that makes cinemas and theatres really important is the fact that we use it as a form of bonding with our friends and families. Art is best when you share it with the people you love. You get to enjoy it together, to critisize it together and that's what creates the best memories for us. So getting rid of these entertainments can have a negative effect on people and make us grow further and further apart from each other.

To conclude, theatres and cinemas can't be abolished because they're a form of art that should be experienced live and shared with loved ones and no matter how abvanced the world becomes it won't be able to replace it.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you believe theatres and cinemas remain essential, and you give relevant reasons about live artistic experience and shared social memories. You also acknowledge the convenience and lower cost of online entertainment. However, the task asks you to discuss both views, including the claim that these venues remain important economically and culturally. The online-view paragraph is developed, but the case for continued importance is mainly cultural and social; the economic argument is not explained. For example, you could discuss jobs, ticket revenue, or support for local businesses, then compare these benefits with online access. Developing and supporting both sides more evenly would make the response more complete and persuasive.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction states your view, the body paragraphs present reasons, and the conclusion restates your position. Ideas generally progress from online convenience to live experience and then social connection. Basic linking phrases such as “While it is true” and “To conclude” help signal this structure. However, the first body paragraph combines several points in one long sentence, making the contrast between online access and live art harder to follow. The second paragraph also repeats the idea of enjoying art together without clearly connecting it to the task’s economic argument. Use clearer topic sentences and divide complex points into shorter units; this would strengthen progression and make the links between claims more precise.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “digital world,” “form of bonding,” “witness,” and “negative effect.” These choices help communicate your main ideas, and the meaning is generally clear. There are, however, noticeable spelling errors, including “imprtance,” “entertainement,” “critisize,” and “abvanced.” Some expressions are also imprecise or unnatural, such as “all form of arts” and “theatres and cinema.” Aim for accurate spelling and more natural collocations, particularly when discussing cultural and economic value. For instance, “a wide range of art forms” is clearer than “all form of arts,” while “theatre and cinema venues” can help avoid awkward singular/plural phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a concession structure beginning “While it is true” and a reason clause with “because.” Your meaning remains understandable, but some grammatical errors and punctuation problems occur. In the long sentence about the digital world, “art is not something … through a screen you have to be there” joins complete ideas without suitable punctuation or a linking word. The phrase “without having to spend too much time and money on getting tickets and spending hours of transportation” also has an unclear grammatical relationship between the activities. There are errors in possessives and sentence structure, such as “witness it's grateness.” Break long sentences into clearer clauses, check apostrophes and agreement, and use punctuation to separate complete ideas.
