Student answer (Band 5.5)

These days some people seem to argue in todays era cinemas and theatres are no longer essential to entertaine ourself we have alternative for it like online apps. While others believe that theatres and cinemas are important for both economically and culturlly.,However i firmly believe that we donot need it any more to go to cinemas or theatres.

In the first place it would be quite true to say that in todasys era our life is goping very quickly and we donat have that much free time to watch movies in cinemas. For example, if a person is doing a 9 to 5 job so for him it is difficult to go to cinema and watch movie there. becouse he do not have that much free time so in result he willl be diffinetly prefern to watch movie or any other. entertainments thing at there home through online apps such as Netflix,Youtube etc.secondly people now prefering online app becouse of availability. For instance, if a person went to cinema to watch movies and when he reached there and saw. the name of the moive and which he don"t like it so offcourse he will be dissapointed on the other hand if he is at home and he is watching any movies and after few minitues he did not like it so he can easily change the movie .

In the other side, cinemas and theatres have their own value, In cinemas there is a lot of people who are working trhere and their expences cover from the earning of theatres. For example if we closed alll the cinemas so wher5e thiose people will work or how they can fulfil their as well as there family expences. secondly, cinemas play a virtal role in our cultural.it is our traditional way to entertaine our self and our new generation is not awair of this.

In the conclusion, it would be easy to say that the advantages of online entertainment os owerweigh then going to cinema or theatres for entertainment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and make your own position clear: you argue that online entertainment is more convenient and that cinemas are no longer necessary. The first view is supported with relevant examples about limited free time after work and the ability to change a film at home. You also recognise the opposing view by mentioning cinema employment and cultural tradition. However, these points are not developed equally: the economic argument is mainly a question about where workers would go, and the cultural point that younger people may not know the tradition is left unexplained. To strengthen the response, explain more specifically how cinemas contribute to local economies and what cultural experiences they provide, then connect those points to your conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph supporting online entertainment, a paragraph presenting the value of cinemas, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “In the first place,” “secondly,” and “In the conclusion” help readers follow the main stages. However, some linking is mechanical, and the opening sentence combines the two positions awkwardly. Within paragraphs, ideas sometimes run together, particularly in the long example about choosing a film at home. The phrase “In the other side” also does not clearly signal contrast. Use clearer topic sentences, divide long explanations into well-punctuated sentences, and make references such as “it” and “this” more precise to improve progression and cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “online apps,” “availability,” “earning,” and “cultural.” There are also attempts to express concepts such as convenience and employment. However, the range is limited and several word choices, forms, and spellings are inaccurate or unnatural, including “entertaine ourself,” “expences,” “virtal role,” and “awair.” Repeated use of “cinema,” “movie,” and “people” also makes the expression less flexible. These errors sometimes make the reader pause, even though the intended meaning is generally recoverable. Build a more accurate range of collocations for the topic, and check spelling and word forms carefully; for example, use “entertain ourselves,” “expenses,” and “play a vital role.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including conditional examples such as “if a person went to cinema” and “if we closed all the cinemas.” This shows an effort to explain consequences and compare situations. However, control is uneven: errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries occur in several places. For example, “he do not have” should be “he does not have,” while “if a person is doing a 9 to 5 job so for him it is difficult” needs a clearer clause structure. Some sentences are also joined with full stops or commas in ways that interrupt the meaning. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and article use, and punctuate complex sentences so each clause is clearly connected.
