Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some people claim that in present era of Digital World, there is no room for theatres and cinemas because everything now, related to entertainment are one click ahead, While other contradict by stressing importance of cinemas and theatre in economy and culture. Both of the types of people have verity as every substance of entertainment is now in the pocket of almost all individual in the form of cellpone. And a lot of alternatives like Social Media are replacing the trend of cinema and theater. But also these two platforms have importance in improving economy of country and establishing different means strengthening the roots of culture. I believe Theatres and Cinemas still have much importance in attracting people and sustained as an impressionistic genre of art.

It is not deniable fact, that Cellphones have caused a lot of damage in reputation of Cinemas and Theater among people, Almost every kind of entertainment covering genre for children and adults, is now available on smart phone and other elctronics. People are consuming too much in Social Media like instagram, Facebook, and Tiktok, and these platforms are now replacing Cinemas and theatres.

But also we cannot free overself from the need of cinemas and theatres as they play a major role in building society and anchor the economy and culture of the society. They are considered as a 'School of Thought', many institutes teach Cinema and Theater as a subject in studies.

In Conclusion, beside the facts that both types of individuals claimed about uselessness and usefullness of Cinemas and Theatres, I believe that without them, it is impossible for society to be sustained as they are the basic entities in the field of Art.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both views and state a clear opinion: online entertainment is replacing some cinema-going, but theatres and cinemas remain important to society and art. This gives the response a relevant central position. However, the discussion is only partly developed. The case for online entertainment is supported mainly by the availability of content on phones and social media, while the economic and cultural case is asserted rather than explained. For example, you say these venues “anchor the economy and culture,” but do not show how they create jobs, support local businesses, or preserve cultural works. The conclusion repeats your view without adding support. Develop each side with a specific reason or example, and explain more precisely why these venues remain valuable despite online access.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has an overall structure: an introduction, separate discussion of online entertainment and the continuing role of theatres, and a conclusion. This makes the main direction understandable. Some links between ideas are less clear or mechanical, however. The repeated “But also” does not clearly signal the relationship between the preceding point and the next one, and the second body paragraph moves from social media to society, the economy, culture, and education without fully connecting these claims. The introduction also contains several ideas in one long sequence, which makes the position harder to follow. Use clearer topic sentences and develop one main point at a time; then connect examples explicitly to the claim they support.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “digital,” “entertainment,” “economy,” “culture,” and “genre of art.” Some less common expressions, such as “School of Thought” and “impressionistic genre,” show an effort to express more complex ideas, but they are not always precise or natural in context. There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice problems, including “verity,” “cellpone,” “elctronics,” and “usefullness,” which can distract the reader. Phrases such as “everything … are one click ahead” and “free overself from the need” are difficult to interpret because the wording is not idiomatic. Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully; simpler precise wording will communicate your ideas more effectively than unusual phrases used inaccurately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including contrast clauses beginning “While other contradict…” and the subordinate clause “as they play a major role…”. However, control is uneven, and errors in agreement, articles, sentence boundaries, and punctuation sometimes make the reader pause. For example, “everything now, related to entertainment are” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “It is not deniable fact, that…” has an article and punctuation issue. The opening sentence also joins several clauses with commas and a capitalized “While,” making its structure difficult to follow. Work on building shorter, complete sentences first, then add subordinate clauses with accurate agreement and punctuation. Proofreading for sentence boundaries would improve clarity.
