Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is argued that, due to the advancement of digital media, people can now watch various forms of entertainments including movies and tv shows siting at their home without visiting the theatres or cinemas. Others believe that in order to uphold a country's economy and culture, visiting cinemas and theatres are equally important.

Some people prefer to watch the entertainment items online because of the convenience and affordability. First of all, people can choose content from a variety of options without paying extra money. While in theatres individual family members need separate tickets, whereas the monthly subscription for an online platform can make it accessible for all the family members. Moreover, people living in a remote area don't have to travel far in order to watch a movie which saves their time. If they watch on an online platform, they usually don't have to spend money on transportation, snacks or buying tickets. Additionally, people can pause or repeat the content any time as per their convenience.

On the other hand, theatres and cinemas play a crucial role both economically and culturally. The earnings from these means can help both the artists and the overall industry to grow economically. Furthermore, a country's overall culturual heritage is getting affected by the widespead of online platforms. Sometimes people prefer to watch movies from different languages and countries, by which their own industry get affected.

To conclude, a balanced approach between online platforms and visiting cinema halls is needed in order to provide people convenience without affecting the country's own economy and culture.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and give a concluding position: online viewing is presented as convenient and affordable, while cinemas and theatres are linked to economic and cultural value. The examples about family subscriptions, travel, and industry earnings are relevant. However, the two sides are not developed equally. The online advantages are explained in several ways, whereas the cultural argument—“a country's overall cultural heritage is getting affected”—is unclear and needs a specific explanation of how cinemas support local culture. Your conclusion calls for balance, but does not fully explain how that position resolves the competing concerns. Develop the cultural point and make your own view more explicit throughout to strengthen the response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. The progression within the online-entertainment paragraph is easy to follow, and signposts such as “First of all,” “Moreover,” and “On the other hand” help readers identify the argument. This already gives the essay a coherent arrangement. To make the progression more natural and less dependent on formulaic transitions, connect related points more precisely and vary the linking language. For example, the final sentence of the online paragraph adds another convenience rather than leading toward the contrast. The cultural paragraph would also benefit from clearer links between foreign-language viewing, local production, and cultural effects; the reference “these means” is not fully clear.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range for the topic, including “convenience and affordability,” “subscription,” “remote area,” and “cultural heritage.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, and you attempt more formal expressions such as “play a crucial role” and “overall industry.” However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “entertainments,” “siting at their home,” “earnings from these means,” and “the widespead of online platforms.” There are also spelling errors in “culturual” and “widespead.” Aim for more natural topic-specific phrasing, especially when explaining the cultural argument, and check spelling and word forms carefully. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding your main points.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a contrast clause with “While” and a conditional sentence beginning “If they watch on an online platform.” Most ideas remain understandable, and the sentence structures are varied enough to explain reasons and consequences. Some grammatical errors persist, however. In “people can now watch … siting at their home,” the participle construction and possessive form are faulty; “individual family members need separate tickets” would be clearer as “each family member needs a separate ticket.” There are also agreement and sentence-pattern problems in “their own industry get affected.” Review subject–verb agreement, articles, and clause construction, then proofread longer sentences to improve accuracy while retaining this range.
