Student answer (Band 6.5)
Nowadays some people believe that cinemas and theatres are no longer important in this digital era while others believe that movie halls and theatres are still have importance in both economically and culturally. In my opinion if you have interest in watching movies and dramas you should go to cinemas. I can discuss both of the views in coming paragraphs.
On the one hand internet makes it very easy to do anything in your home you can watch movies and dramas. There are numerous websites like netflix and amazon prime where you can watch it online as well as these websites give you an download option to see dramas offline. For example you have a long air journey and there is no internet on flight you simply download movies and watch it in your phone and laptop also this is a very good time pass for boring long flight.
On the other hand people still believe that it is important for us to see movies and dramas in cinemas and in theatres. People in the past not have so much facilities on watching shows in their home and it included in our culture to watch dramas and movies in theatres. They have a lot of fun during live performances by different artists and economically a huge impact on producers and directors of films as they invested a very huge amount of money to make a film the only way of return is cinemas.
To conclude that in this digital age people are no longer go for cinemas as they watch shows on their laptop and mobile phones online but people should also go in cinemas as it is necessary for our culture to watch dramas in theatres and economically it has a great impact also as film makers invest money on actors.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the prompt. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the economic argument regarding film producers is mentioned but not fully explained or supported with specific evidence. The position is clear, but the conclusion is a bit repetitive and lacks a strong summary of the main points. To improve, you should aim to expand on your arguments with more detailed reasoning or specific examples to demonstrate a deeper engagement with the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of your argument. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand' to signal shifts in perspective. However, the transitions between sentences are sometimes mechanical, and the use of cohesive devices is limited. Some sentences feel disjointed, and the connection between ideas could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would enhance the overall flow and coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'digital era', 'economically', and 'performances'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and some repetition, such as the frequent use of 'movies and dramas'. The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the sophistication and precision required for higher band scores. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific collocations and avoid repeating the same phrases. Expanding your vocabulary to include more academic or formal synonyms will help you express your ideas with greater clarity and impact.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'cinemas and theatres are still have importance' (should be 'still have importance' or 'are still important') and 'people in the past not have so much facilities' (should be 'did not have'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with run-on sentences. To reach a higher band, focus on correcting basic subject-verb agreement and tense errors, and try to use a wider variety of complex structures with greater accuracy.
