Student answer (Band 6.5)

It is undeniable that in this modern era technology is spreading their wings all over the world. In this regard, some people believe that in this digital world theatre and cinemas are no longer important as people can watch all the entertainment they want online. While others argue that theatres and cinemas are still significant both economically and culturally. This essay will discuss not only both views but also my opinion which is in favor of former point of view in forthcoming fragments with logical conclusion.

To commence with, there are numerous benefits of the given notion. The first and foremost is low cost. To explain, people often do not visit theatres nowadays to watch movies instead they watch it online on different platforms and it is less costly than cinemas. As in cinemas and theatres we have to buy tickets that are much expensive. For instance, people can watch online movies on platforms such as YouTube and Netflix and it is less costly almost no costs. Secondly, it offers more comfort. To elaborate, people want satisfaction and comfort while watching movies to keep mind fresh and calm so they prefer watching movies at their homes because they think that homes give enormous benefits such as more comfort, no mess and easy access to drinks and snacks. Furthermore, it is economical way. To justify, people consider watching movies at home is very economical method in terms of efforts, money and time that is, time used to visit cinemas.

However, there are also few points in later point of view. The prime one is that theatres give rise to income generations and offers more employment opportunities. To clarify, cinemas offers lot of work opportunities to many people and it improve their status and financial conditions thus, it give more employment opportunities. Moreover, tickets which are purchased by people to watch movies in that, taxes are included which directly goes to governments therefore, it rises finance from public and creates income generation.

In conclusion, although there are many advantages of not visiting cinemas such as economical, less costly and more comfort. Yet, disadvantages cannot be neglected at any cost. From my perspective, watching movies at home is the best way to save money and to get more entertainment.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The essay addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive. For instance, the arguments for watching movies at home (cost, comfort, and convenience) are essentially the same point restated in different ways. The discussion of the opposing view regarding economic benefits is relevant but lacks depth or specific examples beyond general statements about taxes and employment. To reach a higher band, you should aim to provide more distinct, well-supported arguments rather than repeating the same concept using different phrasing.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. You use cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Secondly', and 'However' to signal transitions. However, some of the linking is mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is slightly awkward, such as the phrase 'in forthcoming fragments with logical conclusion' in the introduction, which sounds unnatural. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes repetitive, and the conclusion could be more effectively linked to the main body paragraphs to summarize the arguments more cohesively.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'undeniable', 'economical', and 'employment opportunities'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'spreading their wings all over the world' (idiomatically inappropriate here), 'much expensive' (should be 'much more expensive'), and 'rises finance' (should be 'raises revenue'). While these errors do not impede communication, they limit the precision and sophistication of your writing, keeping it within the Band 6 range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('cinemas offers', 'it improve', 'it give') and article usage. Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some run-on sentences and missing commas that affect the clarity of your complex structures. The errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding your main points. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic agreement errors and refining your use of complex sentence connectors.
