Student answer (Band 7.0)
The question of whether theatres and cinemas are still important in this digital era has long been a point of debate among people. While some argue that they are not required now other maintain that they are economically and culturally important. Both arguments hold merit. I firmly believe that their meaningful role cannot be denied no matter how much we get digitized.
Proponents of the first view contend that they don't need theatres and cinemas now. This can be attributed to the availability of all kind of movies on thousands of websites online. Some of them are even free to watch. So people find it useless to spend money and time to go and buy tickets to watch movie in cinemas when they can easily watch it on their couch freely in their homes. From this perspective theatres and cinemas are useless now.
Conversely, advocates who prioritize these places for watching entertainment assert that they play a pivotal role economically and culturally. The rationale behind is that the vibe and experience of watching in theatres and cinemas are not the same as watching it on the same old couch of the house. Another significant advantage is it leads to economic growth. The recent studies shows that when new movie launches it's tickets are already booked. People wants to come out of their monotonous routine and enjoy their culture while seeing a film in a cinemas with lots of people around. Therefore, opponents claim that digitization doesn't diminish significance of theatres and cinemas in the society.
To conclude, although phones and TV undeniably important valuable factor of our entertainment but are theatres and cinemas. An all-inclusive approach is required for preserving culture and economic growth. People should enjoy the experience of seeing a film once in a while in the cinema. Only through such integrated measures can people achieve meaningful improvements in their life. Therefore, I am of the opinion that we should acknowledge more theatres and cinemas in our society.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the convenience of online streaming versus the cultural and economic value of physical venues. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the economic argument is mentioned but not fully explored with specific examples or deeper analysis. The position is clear throughout, but the conclusion is slightly repetitive and lacks a strong summary of the main points. To reach a higher band, you should aim to expand on your arguments with more detailed explanations or concrete examples.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. There is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. You use some cohesive devices effectively, such as 'Conversely' and 'Therefore'. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and there are instances where referencing is slightly unclear, such as in the final paragraph where the sentence structure becomes fragmented. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence flows naturally into the next would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proponents', 'pivotal role', and 'monotonous'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'get digitized' (should be 'digitized') and 'acknowledge more theatres' (which is slightly unnatural in this context). Additionally, there is some repetition of basic vocabulary like 'theatres and cinemas'. To improve, try to use more precise synonyms and collocations to express your ideas with greater sophistication and variety.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'The recent studies shows', 'it's tickets are') and article usage (e.g., 'in a cinemas'). Some sentences are also slightly awkward, such as 'although phones and TV undeniably important valuable factor of our entertainment but are theatres and cinemas.' These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the score. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and refining complex sentence structures will help you achieve a higher band.
