Student answer (Band 6.5)
The entertainment plays vital role in each individuals life. Some individuals opine that in this digital age, there is no need of theatres and cinemas. the people who want to watch a movie, they can watch it online. Others oppose and says for the benefit of economic and cultural, theatre and cinemas are still important. This essay will discuss both the perspective before presenting my opinion.
On the one hand, theatres and cinemas makes the experience by providing bigger screen and the better sound quality through the emerging technologies in audio such as surround sound. Moreover, as it requires for staff members to maintain the theatres and cinemas, it provides job to many other people. for many peoples, this job is the predominant source of their income. Also, many local business around the location that theatre used to give and advertisement. So for local business, theatres and cinemas are the best source of advertisement to advertise their product among local people. Furthermore, theatre plays vital role in cultural development. For instance, in the country like India, many people get influenced by the characters.
On the other hand, although watching movie online not provide a great experience as the theatres and cinema provides, some people still like it. Because the convenient it provides. people can watch a movie whenever they want. Conversely, in cinemas people can watch only those movies which are currently playing. In Addition, for the old age people, watching movie online is not so easy. As they are not have enough understanding about technology.
In conclusion, the convenient which are provided by online streaming platforms should not be overlooked but keeping in mind the benefits, I also believe that cinemas and theatres are still important.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views and providing a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the economic and cultural benefits are mentioned, the explanation remains superficial; for instance, the point about local businesses is a bit disjointed, and the example regarding India is vague. The conclusion is brief and does not fully synthesize the arguments presented. To reach a higher band, you should aim to expand on your points with more specific, illustrative examples and ensure your position is clearly articulated throughout the essay rather than just in the introduction and conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'Moreover', and 'Conversely' to link ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly inaccurate, such as the transition 'Conversely' used to introduce a point about convenience rather than a true contrast. Additionally, some sentences within paragraphs feel disconnected, and the flow between ideas could be smoother. Improving the variety of your linking words and ensuring that each sentence logically follows the previous one will help improve the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'digital age', 'streaming platforms', and 'cultural development'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'the entertainment plays vital role' (missing article), 'the convenient it provides' (incorrect word form), and 'they are not have enough understanding' (grammatical error affecting lexical clarity). To improve, focus on learning common collocations and ensuring you use the correct word forms (e.g., nouns vs. adjectives).
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the theatres'), subject-verb agreement ('theatres and cinemas makes'), and word forms ('the convenient'). Some sentences are also fragmented or lack necessary components, such as 'the people who want to watch a movie, they can watch it online'. These errors occur throughout the text and occasionally require the reader to re-read to understand the intended meaning. Increasing your control over basic grammar and punctuation will significantly enhance the quality of your writing.
