Student answer (Band 6.5)
A number of people argue that with the introduction of online entertainment services, theatres and cinemas will no longer be relevant, while others believe that people will still visit theatre for the experience. Although online services are more cost effective, I believe watching a movie in a theatre is an immersive experience.
Watching movies and series online is not only comforting but also budget friendly. With a single subscription you can watch multiple movies across different genre. Additionally, there are no time constrains to watch a show, you can watch anything, at anytime based on your leisure time. Also, we can play and pause the shows, along with this we can have multiple breaks in-between the shows. For instance, on Netflix, if someone is watching a movie and urgently an important task arise, so they can pause the movie and can save it in watch later section. However, I believe movie must be experience on a giant screen with surround sound.
It is important to experience a movie in the theatre as it gives a complete package. Theatre have large 8k projectors to display on giant screen, along with these they have dobly atmos sound system to let you feel strong emotions. Additionally some movies are shot in IMAX, in order to experience that you need to watch them in IMAX theatre. To add to this, theatre also provide various format to watch a film like 4DX, 3D and Infinity vision.
In conclusion, watching the films online save time and money but people miss the overall experience of the cinema.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention the economic and cultural importance of cinemas, the discussion remains focused primarily on technical features like '8k projectors' and '4DX'. To achieve a higher band, you should expand on the broader economic impact (e.g., job creation, local business support) and the cultural significance (e.g., the communal experience of sharing a film with an audience). The conclusion is also quite brief and does not fully synthesize the arguments presented in the body paragraphs.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Additionally', 'However', and 'For instance' to link sentences. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally repetitive. For example, the start of the second and third paragraphs could be more varied to improve the flow. The use of paragraphing is appropriate, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be strengthened by using a wider variety of linking words and better referencing to avoid repeating the same sentence structures.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'immersive experience', 'budget friendly', and 'surround sound'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'time constrains' (should be 'constraints') and 'movie must be experience' (should be 'experienced'). Additionally, some phrasing is slightly informal or repetitive. To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated collocations and precise academic vocabulary related to the topic of media and economics. The current range is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, but lacks the precision required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('Theatre have', 'theatre also provide') and tense inconsistencies ('if someone is watching... and an important task arise'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some missing articles and minor errors in sentence construction. To reach a higher band, you need to increase the frequency of error-free complex sentences and ensure better control over verb forms and pluralization.
