Student answer (Band 7.0)
In modern societies, theatres and cinemas are subject of considerable debate. Some people say that there is no need of cinemas and theatres in the current digital era as everything is available online, while others argue that it has important role in culture and economy. In this essay, I will discuss both sides, and present my view in favor of importance of cinemas and theatres in culture and economy.
On one hand, people believe that digital innovation has replaced the need of cinemas and theatres, because now entertainment is available online without cost. It is considered as a positive development in digitalization, as it can provide leisure to the people who can not afford if previously. For example, people of middle-to-lower class were unable to enjoy movies as they can not buy cinema and theatre tickets.
On the other hand, opponents consider it beneficial for culture and economy. Cinemas and theatres play an important role in promoting cultural values. For instance, students' trips to cinemas or theatres arranged by schools, make them aware of their ancestor's history. Moreover, revenues can be generated by officials from cost of cinema and theatre's tickets, infrastructure rents and food courts.
In my opinion, although numerous developments has been made in digital innovation and it provides replacement to cinemas and theatres, but it can not out weigh the role of cinemas and theatres in promoting culture and financial benefits.
In conclusion, despite the advancements in digital age and availability of entertainment online in free, its cultural and economical advantages can not be denied.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, though some points, such as the economic benefits of 'infrastructure rents,' are slightly underdeveloped. The position is consistent throughout the essay. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your examples; for instance, instead of just mentioning 'ancestor's history,' you could explain how live performances foster a unique emotional connection that digital media cannot replicate. Overall, the task is fulfilled adequately.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two opposing views. Cohesive devices such as 'On one hand,' 'On the other hand,' and 'Moreover' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be improved by using more varied referencing. For example, the final sentence of the second paragraph could be better integrated with the preceding point about cultural values to improve the overall progression of ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'digital innovation,' 'advancements,' and 'economical advantages.' However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'no need of cinemas' (should be 'no need for') and 'in free' (should be 'for free'). The vocabulary is generally sufficient to convey your meaning, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. Focusing on more sophisticated collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing would help improve your score in this area.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('numerous developments has been made') and incorrect preposition usage ('in favor of importance'). Punctuation is generally correct, but some sentences are slightly awkward, such as the final sentence of the fourth paragraph. To improve, focus on ensuring that complex structures are grammatically accurate and pay closer attention to articles and prepositions, which are currently causing minor, though frequent, errors.
